I enjoyed the Witcher games, but the character is a blatant rip off of Elric of Melnibone. Even Michael Moorcock himself said so.

Nice! this could be so good if done well. Definitely watching. Although wish it was a HBO exclusive or something like GoT and not a "Netflix series"..

Why would you want that?? So people would have to pay for expensive cable or pirate it. Makes no sense.

We can get HBO TV shows in Australia? Foxtel? Netflix is really good mate, compared to Foxtel at least.

Because it would be bigger budget and higher quality and not some dodgy Netflix special (possibly).

Yeah, I probably should have just said I hope its to the standard of Game of Thrones, wishful thinking I guess! lol

In my experience Netflix shows are rarely low budget and have the benefit of not being compromised by a network that will interfere with the quality mid season. On a technical point, i was also recently reading that even as simple documentary on Netflix is subject to some of the strictest video quality standards that even films aimed at the cinema don't have to adhere to.

Netflix has some really good quality stuff.

Netflix is starting to stream lots of their original programs in 4K, which HBO does not support.

I read it should be all as it's mandatory that anything with their name on it is filmed in 4k raw, and actual 4k and not just UHD. I think they would do a good job with this, and from a creative point of view, filming and releasing them all at the same time is better than on a weekly basis.

They have a lot of good shows, but it's pretty clear they've greenlit way too many shows this last year and quality suffers for it. I'd rather they do a few outstanding shows than many mediocre ones. But it's all subjective of course.

There is now way to know if something is really good unless you give the budget for it though.

Lol. if someone pitched to me a show about a group of people learning an interpretive dance routine, to stop a school shooting randomly on the last episode, I would have given them zero dollars. That being said, the risks netflix take allowed Stranger Things to succeed where 15 other networks turned them away. I guess in the end I don't really care what Netflix spends its money on as long as some % of shows they release are good and wouldn't have been picked up by anyone else. At least as long as its recommendation engine doesn't give me a 99% match for The OA.

That's what scripts and pilots are for.

Netflix funding **** only matters if the absolute amount of good (x amount of people watching them for the entire series) shows is always an absolute number that doesn't decrease. So far I think they're better than any network out there by a large margin. Also they don't charge like a million pounds a month for like 2 good shows like HBO

Really hope they don't ruin it like those typical game-turned-movie

And they don't care about ratings. They just wanna fill niches.

I will definitely watch this. I watch Netflix a lot. It's my go to entertainment in the wee hours of the morning.

Nice idea. Hope the implementation holds up. With GoT being rated 'R' there is hope that it wouldn't suck.
