Maybe my 2500K will have more reselling value 😀. Planning to replace it soon with the Ryzen 3000.

Ahoy mate! Same boat mate!

Yeah... either it's the most vulnerable CPU architecture at Intel or early adopting the Ryzen 3k platform... great perspectives for PC buyers these current days. Still feeling that postponing a build right now is rather smart.

So i had a 4770K, which got turned into a 2600K, then into a i5 because disabling HT was advised, and now i'm back at my old 950...

So if AMD is described as getting better as " Fine Wine" as time goes by- how should we describe Intel's CPU's? "Old Milk"? [smells like eau de rotten dairy but more expensive].

Already patched a month ago, though...both manufacturers will probably continue to see more negative results from the PEBKAC virus... @HWgeek : how about stale yoghurt

Not 950 but 750, haha. 😉

everyday i feel better upgrading my i7-7700k to a ryzen 9 3900x...

Can Intel just own up to all the vulnerabilities, patch them, take the 30% performance hit or whatever, and be done with it? This is getting beyond ridiculous.

They have... The problem is people are now nitpicking exploits based on the exact same fundamental vulnerabilities and calling it something new. I've lost count of how many times a "new" vulnerability was discovered because of speculative execution.

Strangely coincidentall that vurnerabilities started existing at the moment their sales were pretty much dying. This is all planned obsolence. Agreements between soft and hardware producers.
Their sales were "pretty much dying" because AMD is looking like a knight in shining armor. I'm pretty sure it isn't within Intel's interest to get people to switch over, and seeing as MS's task scheduler sucks on AMD, I'm sure they're not pulling any favors for them. Meanwhile, AMD has been making mobo manufacturers look bad with the whole retracting PCIe 4.0 thing, so as far as I'm concerned, there's no conspiracy here.
Did anyone ever encounter a hacked system because of these "vulnarabilities" ? Doubtfull.
The entire reason why these vulnerabilities are so scary is because you can't detect them. It's inherently not [realistically] possible to know if anyone was ever hacked or infected by exploiting these vulnerabilities. Besides, most PCs have been patched quicker than malware or hacks could be deployed.

I'd rather trust my bakker to make my next cpu.
Yes, there is one known system that has been hacked via given vulnerabilities... yours. Sadly, nature of those attacks is that you would not be aware even post factum. Therefore there is really no reliable way to (dis)prove that you have been hacked.

I always thought that these vulnerabillies were based off of leaked NSA exploits courtesy of Mr Snowden.

Intel "No such thing as bad publicity !" User "Intel is not the way to go anymore" Intel "There not buy or stuff as much as before, Raise prices!" By the time it all said and done be patched if all cpu are patched is there performance will be that of a potato Amd you got my buisness for first time in over 2 decades if I bother to make new pc. what good is there price premium if by the time there done patch patching things it on the level of amd? and even then amd has the better price to performance ratio at this point. and there winning the MTP war STP is irreverent at this point

Probably will be as fast as a 9900K by the time they are done finding flaws.....
