Ohh hey another reason for a new generation of video cards to be more expensive. Who saw that coming? it definitely didn't surprise Pikachu that's for sure.

"Oh no, i can't believe nivida's next gpu will have supply issues which will increase its price", no one was ever heard saying. Lol

I doubt we'll be seeing any more price increases. The 4080's price cut and the 4070S performance bump indicate that while this is an unfortunate new normal, it's likely also the ceiling. My takeaway from this is that it's more than likely Nvidia will choose to fill their datacenter/AI orders first, before introducing new consumer GPUs. RTX 5000 might end up coming later than I thought, and I guess the Supers being released last month make a lot more sense now.

Perhaps, but then it's going to be a paper launch. She's basically flat out saying so.

I'll more than likely go team green this up coming gen, since AMD is not interested in competing in the high end this go around (allegedly). Works out i guess if I have to wait a bit for the 5080/5090 to save up money. I'll refresh cpu/mobo/ram when the next x3d comes out, and hold onto the 6900xt for a bit. FSR3 will be mainstream by then, and the 6900xt will have life for a good while.

I`m not so sure about that. Nvidia may divert chips from gaming GPUs to AI chips, that sell for much more, leading to a another price increase because there are fewer gaming chips available... Let`s see how this goes on.

Yes, but that's speculation and scalping. Nvidia doesn't have control over that. I do not think the MSRP will increase, nor will the prices charged to AIBs, whatever they may be. The street price may indeed be higher, especially if they go ahead with a limited release at first.

True but Nvidia may take advantage of the situation and raise their won prices by 10 or 20%. And since their competition, Intel and AMD, are in the same boat, they don`t need to worry about them...

If AMD catches up to nVidia in the ray tracing department, I think AMD will really increase market share. AMD's RT performance has been a real bummer; but even then you still need frame generation for path tracing.

Could have sworn I read an article a few weeks ago where Nvidia were expressing satisfaction that their was no issue with their supply chains.

For all we know this could just be a marketing ploy to get their data center clients to purchase more H100s now, rather than wait for B100.

If AMD catches up to nVidia
It feels like the only one AMD is competing against right now is Intel, not Nvidia. If Intel finally comes out with a cheap but competent GPU without all the issues they currently have, AMD is screwed. Not catching up with Nvidia is the least of their problems.

One good generation from AMD all gamers will make a switch. Blackwell will make Ada look affordable. Nvidia is not a graphics company anymore. Intel still has alot of catching up to do.

True enough. A lot of us bought the 9700 Pro. Most people will buy whatever offers the best performance. You'd have to be really silly to buy an inferior GPU because of brand loyalty. Especially these days. That said I still don't expect Blackwell to cost more once it's available in volume.
