As a huge star Trek TNG fan, I'm quite nervous about this. I think it's a little late for it, data looks like rubber, he shouldn't age, Picard looks more like Mr Miyagi these days. Apparently Riker is coming back too.

rest assured Patrick Stewart would not have reprised the role if it wasn't going to be good.
I sincerely hope that's the case.

[youtube=d41D5xLD0zQ] He asked for a 3 page paper outline of the plans for the series and wound up with "about 16", though the wiki is saying they sent him 34. https://www.tvinsider.com/796525/star-trek-picard-cast-patrick-stewart-comic-con/

Wait... where's the obligatory hero colored female character that saves everyone? 😀 Sorry, couldn't resist that pun. Well Data looks like he does because the actor (Spiner) is ooooold... he aged worse than Stewart!

I just hope Seven of Fine will have a significant role in this as well.

As much as i'm not a fan (I mean I like them, but not a super amount) of the new direction of Star Trek (High budget, low plot) P Stew is so great in this type of role that i'm sure it will be excellent.

If there is a scene with Admiral Hanson, Picard and Data talking about prime directives, I think my pants might explode. *ninja edit: Here is a better trailer from Amazon prime. [youtube=YhBBXHwEsIo]

As much I like Star Trek The Next Generation, this show looks bad at least from the trailer. Patrick Stewart is too old for the role now. Doesn't have the same appeal anymore. Like that saying goes, too little, too late.

After ST discovery I'm very weary of anything ST related. People behind it today have absolutely no idea what ST was all about, so it's now just an action flick for the masses. Now Patrick Stewart and the old cast sound interesting, but it seem more like an attempt to simply cash in on the name recognition, instead of coming up with something new and good. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

It's an interesting point re: Patrick Stewart. Too old...not sure, and I mean I am really not sure...I mean, he is the age he is and is the character who is also the same age. I'm also thinking, which episodes or moments in TNG where he (as an actor) shon the brightest.

Where is the creativity? Where is the bold take on "nobody's gone before" unhindered by all this modern SWJs & political agenda ?? Guess I'm fooling myself wanting something true and original.

I agree with him being to old. its not just his actions, but speech as well. That trailer was a bit shocking to see TBH.

I agree with you. Also what's with all these dark scenery. I hate this new crap, where everything is replaced with black and red in very low light, and the green colour at indoor scenes completely gone, because everything is filmed in a room with a big green screen on the back and not proper stuff like used to do in the 80s & 90s.

Yes, I can relate. Picard being too old etc., while in reality, ST is no longer ST as the episode of the week is no longer the TV format they do today. Everything's got to have a more or less deeper meaning, agenda etc., when in reality they could just make a new ST with doing it like ENT, TNG, VOY, where they go towards an unknown area in gamma / delta quadrant to map it etc. These days everything's got to have a connected story line like in a soap opera, no more "monster of the week" episodes like the first seasons of the X-Files, no more exploration story of the week like mentioned before.
