XP-200:

I am still with the whole vape fake side as i can't think of any components inside any console that would make it produce that kind of smoke, even if the psu were faulty there are safe guards in place in modern electronics that i doubt would allow this to happen.....hell on 25 years of building pcs even with the cheapest nastiest psu ever i have never seen them fall and produce this kind of thing, so call me skeptical on this one.
A short circuit on a PCB that handles power can set on fire. It could easily smoke. The only protection at that stage might be the fuse. If the current flow isnt high enough the fuse wont blow. This happened on a DAC I had upgraded, the power sockets were removed and replaced by direct connections to the PCB. There was a tiny short circuit that started slowly burning the multi layer PCB which over time made the short circuit worse (more current flowing through it). The fuse did blow eventually (after a month or so) but not until it was f*cked and my room stunk.

Mine has been running for 2 hours, no issues yet. Though I'm baffled about the controller, I bought a seperate version. The LB and RB sound clicky while the other that a bought seperate has a very soft press without any sound.

No, they're the new versions with share buttons. It came with my sealed Series X. The new controller I bought brand new felt more premium. Wish I still had it, I sold it with my One X. One controller I already sold a week ago. Could have made a video of it, now I can't prove it..

interesting, not unusual for revisions to be made between boxed console and seperate controller purchases, but never to this degree.

Anyone else thinks that getting a Series X for whatever it is... £29/month over 2 years here in the UK is a good deal? It's like paying for a mid range phone contract. I personally see the attraction as there's probably a lot of games I would possibly feel like trying out but I wouldn't pay the full price for them. And with all the games available that come with this package, via game pass, it's actually not a bad option, I think. Also, I guess it would be a solid box hooked up to your 4k TV for all things TV related.

I'll never buy the original release of a console again after having my ps3 repaired twice and choosing to just buy a new one after the 3rd time it died I got the slim one.

It's not a zero percent loan like a phone plan is; it's an actual loan that you have to qualify for, and it has interest so you end up paying more than retail. Overall, it's not a bad deal, less interest than you'd pay if you put it on an average credit card. It's still better to buy outright and pay no interest at all if you can, though.

Let me do some quick maths... Game Pass Ultimate over 24 months = 10.99*24 = £263.76 Console price when bought outright = £449.99 Buying the console outright and then getting Game Pass Ultimate for 2 years = £713.75 Getting the Xbox All Access package, which is the console + Game Pass Ultimate for 2 years = £695.76 (28.99*24) It's not 0% loan. It's cheaper than 0% loan.

that amount of smoke would have melted the bottom of the case as there would have to have been a serious amount of fire.
Let me unpack that. Smoke. Would have melted the case. There would have been a fire. Actually, contrary to popular belief where there's smoke there isn't always fire. smol·der·ing /ˈsmōldəriNG/ Learn to pronounce noun the process of burning slowly with smoke but no flame.

smoldering would still have melted the case.

Not if the metal surround spread the heat over its whole area.

Looks real to me, looks exactly like what @Picolete mentioned. I've had ASrock motherboards literally go on fire before (twice) with as much if not more smoke than in that picture and had enough time to pick up my phone and take a picture, all of 5 seconds that takes. Not sure why there's so many idiots ragging on the poor guy it happened too.
A few years ago, I had a GTX460 catch fire. I created a thread about it. Most of the posts in that thread were accusations and insults. Even after I posted pictures of the damage, the accusations and insults continued. Even MSI admitted that the card itself was at fault for the fire.....but that didn't stop the stupidity. Some people just can't get past the fact that they don't know WTF happened or why, so they start talking shit....

When my first Athlon XP 2000 burned out, it produced a crap ton of smoke with no fire.....

no point trying with them, they don't have much if any experience with electrical faults.

The console crashing seems to be related to either call of Duty cold War or the disc. All my digital games run without issues, call of Duty multi-player crashes the console after few minutes. When I was installing it through the disc it made a little noise from time to time. Bit of rattling sound, but it did not give any errors during installation.
