so what happens from here assuming they do get to 7nm and 5nm?
maybe they need to work on implementing other technology's to bring in faster performance and longer battery life like DDr4 memory controllers instead of DDr2 and better firmware and more complex architectures. last but not least is a new SATA standard because the current one has been bottlenecked for the last 3yrs and is do for an upgrade!
Graphene would be the next logical step and after that Diamond! maybe?

Diamond????
Most lol-able prediction i have ever heard.

I'm sure kenoh is onto something there. But the problem is that I doubt that even him knows what it is. 😀
Anw back on topic. Hilbert or anyone else care to elaborate on the below? Thank you.
"TLC flash memory offers lower costs than MLC flash memory but has lower endurance"
By lower endurance what does it mean precisely and by how much? And compared to what or which other flash memory?

Seems like some people need to be updated with the times...LOL

obviously Diamond is a natural evolution of grapheme in nature so....:3eyes:
I can see Diamond quantum computing in about 20yrs so maybe 2029...if you know what I mean?

How diamond is even coming into possibility?
It does not meet the firstest criteria along with other, abundance.

^lol. Even with those donate, maximum 32 ssd would be made?:p

Synthetic Diamond rather than the stuff you mine. It's actually pretty viable for some things, processors for example.

When people cite Diamond as a source for future computing materials, they're generally talking about Neo Cyrus

^is it that easy to synthasize diamond , i mean simple enough to produce in a large scale? I don't know, just asking.
Neo Cyrus
They wouldn't need as much as you think, so production wouldn't be what I would call "large scale". But the answer to your question is yes.
mohiuddin
^ok, then. Lets see when this 'diamond' era arrive....

^u are expressing these possibilities with such a confidence. I hope u and i would visit this thread 50yrs later with diamond pc or whatever tech the pc would run on.
Sure, i will lough seeing my own post, what a useless topic we wasted our time posting about. :P
