Missing a basic 16/9 lineup, 1080p / 1440p / 2160p
Not all the games enjoy the very very very wide format gaming experience, and not all desktop/room can afford big wide screen too.
Would have loved to see these missing panels in 27" to 40" size too.

A really so beautiful and futuristic one that makes me feel it's like a monitor from a raytraced, realistic and well made videogame. It deserves rewards and some hype.

Impressive specs and killer looks !
Probably killer price too, but hey, it's most likely the ultimate gaming monitor today !

Pretty neat, but most likely very expensive and generally a topic with most games (ultra ultra wide screen support?). Also, front has black bezel, back is white plastics... could have just made it all black imho.

This is pretty cheap compared to the new Lg ultragear-34gn850-b. If you look at the specs.
The question is what kind of drawbacks does this g9 monitor have?
Does it support "DP 2.0"

Hmm, a tad to expensive for me. Before i started looking for a new dedicated monitor for my pc i tough HDR and over 100hz was normal. Tho, its not hard to find a 145hz monitor, HDR support is surprisingly lacking compared to what i tough it would be. Most screens are under 500nits. My samsung tv iv used for some years is better than most monitors, ignoring the refresh rate. My tv is only 60hz, main reason i want something with over 100hz refresh rate. Tho, knowing how games and video look with HDR. It would be very nice to have and i think HDR will get more used in the future considering next gen consoles are around the corner. I feel i need both 145hz, and real HDR support.
Not easy to have gaming as a hobby these days.. Hehe 🙂
Anyone followed the news, what will be released this year? Can we expect "real" HDR support this year in the27-34 inch mid/high end market? Or a drop in prices?

It's still VA though.
I'd question what metric Samsung used for "highest performance" but that doesn't actually seem to be a Samsung quote.

Still a slow ass VA panel

No one is making appealing panels to me anymore. It's either crap cheap or futuristic oversized I can't afford or like because curved. *sobbing*

And no hardware in sight that will push this panels native resolution at the specified refresh rate.
Thought about buying it, but it will not be pushed for quite some time due to hardware not being up to snuff.
I'm still struggling to get 60fps with a 2080ti HC FTW at 3440x1440 ray tracing on.
Maybe when it's like a grand it'll be worth it. Meh.... $700 sounds better. Like what I paid for my Alienware Dell.

HDR1000 with edge lit local dimming is just nonsense at that screen size. If Samsung put the zones vertically and it has only 8 zones, then this screen is doomed to fail.
What I would like to see for 1700$, is a FALD screen monitor with lets say less then 200-100 dimming zones. It will have some blooming effect, but it's still less visible than that on an edge lit screen with just a couple of zones. They are building TV screens like that and it's not that bad, for instance the q70s series.
1700$ for an edge lit screen it's not worth it, period.

1) this is shipping now in USA @ $1,700.00 or thereabouts.
2) the pics don't do it justice, as this was the sexiest screen I saw at CES.
3) if Sammy is using higher sensitivity Q dots, HDR 1k is easily possible...but so are blooming and grey scale issues with edge lighting, if that's what they're using. given that no manufacturer has more experience with edge lighting and Q dots, I definitely think they must have a work around for such a massive screen that's a halo product.

How does this monitor do 240hz at 5120x1440 with 8bit color depth? The crg9 that I own maxes out dp 1.4 bandwidth at 120hz 5120x1400 at 8bit depth.

I think the best two displays for gaming are now:
- LG CX 48" OLED*
- Samsung Odyssey G9
(and both have the problem of no videocard being able to use them at full capacity yet.... until Big Navi and Ampere)
They've left everything else in the dust.
(ridiculous 360Hz 1080p TN doesn't count, that's just garbage)
*(must be careful not to leave the same image on it all the time, due to being an OLED, so start it, play a game or watch a movie/youtube, close it... that one is NOT for windows desktop/general use !)
