This is going to be the ultimate TV technology. All the benefits of OLED, but brighter, no black crush, no burn in, and much longer lifespan. Just need it to drop in price and get smaller 😀 Hopefully in 2 or 3 years I can pick up a 60" 4K micro led tv.

I'll wait for a 32'' one, maybe in 10 years?

Perhaps. I don't understand why it's soo hard to make inorganic led's soo small, when it's possible to do organic led's small enough.

How much does this cost? 100.000 dollars? Also, why only 4k at 110 inch? This looks more like a technology demo then a mass produced TV. Samsung just wants to show that it can do it, but it will probably never do it, or at least not in this decade. Meanwhile Samsung just releases mediocre Qleds TVs labelled as high end for the mases...

Organic is basically "printed" on a substrate with a special printer, the screen components are almost liquid until they reach their final position. Inorganic is individual parts, each subpixel is a tinny-tiny LED chip that is being placed and soldered onto a board.... and 24 million of them need to be placed PERFECTLY for a 4K image. Miss one and you have a dead pixel... which then need to be repaired under a microscope by a human (very expensive) This is not going to be easy... unless some new tech emerges that allows somewhat "printing" inorganic as well.

Meh, I prefer the panasonic 4K plasma that is 152inches AND has a 4K DCI resolution of 4096x2160, just nothing above 60Hz, sadly 🙁

Even if anything did support 12bit in the panel, you'd never be able to tell the difference to 10bit.

They aren't. He's referring to the TH-152UX1 - it weighed 1300 pounds, cost $500K, required 3,700w (240v) to power it.

Better start investing in Bitcoin, maybe i can get this in 2 years

the best tech always starts at the luxe market. this is an odd duck in that the display itself is more advanced than the software running it this display technology will out-spec Dolby Vision easily, but the market placement without it is weird. IMHO, this should be targeted for the gaming market before mass market sales because of the willing hordes of gamers paying a price premium. you can go for extreme immersion with a large screen tight radius or what-have-you as micro-leds allow for neat tricks and would make VR much better at higher res w/o the "screen window" effect. but they're still dealing with production issues. it'll be nice when this becomes the standard

This thing will be unavailable for at least 6 months after release thanks to scalpers.

lol, 4k for 110in says everything. i rather have the 98in 8K from sony and can sit at about half the distance, making it appear much bigger than this..

Might be longer then oLED was annouce over decade ago, and we still dont have 32" oLED sets atlest not that I aware of that dont cost a few limbs Better then oLED? is is as good if not better then ns response the oLED has which reason why i been waiting of oLED (I really miss how CRT handled motions they infinity clear and crispier image in motion then any flatpanel tech as far as I concnered) Question is will be able to a tv/monitor with such panel before I die of old age with out paying an limb or 2 ? 🙄

oh yes the real "LED TV" is finally here now by the time the price gets reasonable we might be jumping into holographic HUDs like the hololens

Don't you just love product advertisements sans prices?....;) For the "money is no object" (along with wall space) crowd, I guess.

I don't think its weird not having Dolby Vision. It's a proprietary closed solution requiring money in order to use it. HDR10+ also supports dynamic metadata, which is the main improvement DV has over HDR10, and it's a free open format. Those extra 2 bits of colour won't do anything as no display panel's support it yet, neither would most people ever notice a difference.
