How is that phrase?"Its a d*ck move".Asus been asus in their world. Ares-is the Greek god of war.In Greek literature, he often represents the physical or violent and untamed aspect of war. The Greeks were ambivalent toward Ares: although he embodied the physical valor necessary for success in war, he was a dangerous force, "overwhelming, insatiable in battle, destructive, and man-slaughtering. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ares

The STRIX brand started out as a "silent" brand, people liked the name so ASUS expanded it. I think owls are cool and Strix: "In the mythology of classical antiquity, was a bird of ill omen, the product of metamorphosis, that fed on human flesh and blood. It also referred to witches and related maleficent folkloric beings." seems cool so idk, I personally like the name.

I'm not saying they're bad products. There's nothing wrong with owning them, because the features are great. But the branding is just so juvenile and nerdy.
Haha, I was thinking something similar. I've never liked the ROG branding - felt it was just a marketing gimmick to draw in the noobs (I cringe whenever I see that stupid logo). If this means AMD cards will no longer be ROG then it's fine by me 😉

I feel like most gaming products are that way or trending that way. Gaming chairs have like all those vibrant red racing colors like a child car bed. A lot of the desktop computers MSI/ASUS/Gigabyte sell look ridiculous to me: https://www.msi.com/asset/resize/image/global/product/product_10_20180302152252_5a98fbccc9aac.png62405b38c58fe0f07fcef2367d8a9ba1/600.png I wouldn't put that thing anywhere in my house - it looks like a megatron. Corsair almost slipped up with the tramp stamp gaming logo design that they rolled back on, although the RGB stuff is starting to get a little egregious tbh. Idk, maybe I'm just getting old but with my computer in my living room now the aesthetic has to be somewhat normal looking and I feel like a lot of these products are going in the opposite direction.

Ares is the Greek god of war. Arez is his effeminate younger brother who cannot match the strength of his older sibling thus seeks to compensate by stressing his gentle, peaceful side and hoping to curry favor and sympathy from the masses who do not like the heavy handedness of his brutish brother.

I think what RoG stands for is dumb but I do actually like the emblem they use for the brand. Looks better than MSI, Corsair and Logitech.

ASUS could not go with ARES. MSI already branded their elite AMD cards ARES. Nvidia were MARS. ASUS needed to go with a better naming scheme then a ripoff of MSI.

I won't be buying Asus again, that's for sure. And all my mobos where from them. Neither I will other crappy companies that can't keep a fair playing field for competition so consumers have a choice. I would never have bought a ROG because they're more expensive for nothing, but now I will stay away from stupid brands like these.

Weird, I always thought ROG and STRIX are different brands of ASUS company. I would expect that AREZ is also a brand. I doubt that ASUS would drop their name for AMD productcs to get some discounts and priority from nVidia. Establishing main brand (ASUS) cost them to much money and effort. Also that would clearly raise code of conduct accusations for nVidia. Calling a FAKE on this one. Also, this website should refrain from posting so many gossips.

right now AMD gpu are still higher priced than NVidia... don't know what argument can stop AMD's free fall on not minning GPU.
Nearly 25% as expensive. Hope GloFo 7 nm will change something, but wouldn't expect any real changed until Navi, hoping that Navi won't be GCN-based and will offer completely new architecture. Then, there is Intel coming. Sadly, we have a lot more of GPU makers that can bring some competition to market, like Qualcomm (ATi Mobile), PowerVR and ARM (Falanx) but most of them are running by financists, rather than technicians, so they do not bother investing into technologies and new markets, they only care of fast superprofit...

I don't know why would anyone care about brandings...Who cares if gigabyte's cards are named either aorus or arez, if the arez brand means subpar to them, and they'll use cheaper components and design, just look for another manufacturer, what's the problem i wonder.

So is ARES off limits to AMD as well??
Maybe, but that's why it's Arez.
data/avatar/default/avatar30.webp
Arez is stupid. This is a pretty big deal to AMD if every mid to higher tiered brand line from ASUS, MSI and GIG has become exclusive to NV. I know many NV fans seem to think it is not a big deal, but your about to have an added premium added to these labels. This is really going to hurt AMD's brand. Just because there are other alternatives does not make this a big deal to everyone.
