Leather Jacket man with obscene prices again.

I tend to agree with you. Plus, I miss the outcry of frustration, or protest.
+1 But I guess the outcry won't come because all those throats gone dry since bitcoin yanked up prices initially. They just misinterpret the resulting silence as acceptance instead of the loss of breath.

Well, I can wait. 6800xt is more than enough for me,. especially when I play only ff14 lately or insurgency sandstorm type games. Can wait even 2 years more. I see locally some 3090 for 900-1100eur so in case of need just will buy something used. I paid once 1050e, won't pay this much again, no mining craze, no COVID srovid so no pressure, will wait to pric drop. There are other things, never been on Azores yet, or Ibiza, so...

Well, I'm keeping my 30' series card until the next generation.. If most people that can wait just wait, perhaps the prices come down due to low demand. Like it's happening with 4080's sitting on shelves... Anyway, these prices are obscene. My next vga will probably be on the 50s/80s generation, and I'm really moving towards AMD if these prices keep going up like this.

when did a xx60 ever have the same tflops as last gen full die ? Titan Maxwell had 50% more than 1060, even 2060 had less than that two generations later. Stop crying that this is a 4060 for likes. It's just not. It's a 4070, configured to trade blows with last gen top card, exactly like 1070 vs Titan Maxwell, just abhorrently expensive.
Keep ignoring the part where it's a 104 that's a joke compared to the 101, that it's been over 2 years since the last gen, that it's tiny and therefore not expensive, and that nVidia themselves were confirmed to be naming it 4060 originally. Stop saying stupid shit like "crying for likes", I hate to say it but at this point you really are starting to sound like a shill. If you're that upset that nVidia were going to name it 4060, because it's a cheap 104 die, and don't want to hear me say it, there's a block button, use it.
cucaulay malkin:

27% more than 3090Ti
You know that was an exaggeration/joke comparing it to its own gen's high end, and assuming that number ends up being true, so fucking what? A generation is not 9-12 months anymore, read the info above, it's still a tiny chip that's relatively cheap to NV. 295mm², it's 295 fucking mm² at most. Compare that to my 3080's/GA102's 628mm² if you insist on making comparisons between those two dies. Do you know what the RTX 3070 was? 392 mm². It's almost 33% smaller than a 3070. Do you know what it's closest in size to? A 3060. And do you know what a key factor in determining die cost is? Yes, the size. It's about the size of a 3060, they were going to name it 4060, it's a galaxy behind the high tier of its generation; for all intents and purposes it is an x60 class card.

The market always sort these things out: supply and demand. There was too much demand for 5 years from miners and scalpers. Now we have to wait for the companies to realise their normal clients are the only ones left and they will not buy anything at these prices. Many people have bought consoles and moved on, they lost those gamers until the next console generation or maybe forever. Damage is done, but they'll feel it for years to come.
data/avatar/default/avatar05.webp
Hahaha at people believing leather jacket's fairytales. If he was correct, then we would see 50-100% price increase in laptops, smartphones, TVs, CPUs etc. But there was no such price hike in other products that rely on chips (except for inflation / currency conversion rate adjustments, which is like 5-10%, and only in some products, not all). Do you know the real reason for these prices? Because PC gamers are niche and they are like drug addicts. They can't say no. Imagine if low-mid range laptop suddenly went from 700 eur to 1400 eur. Mainstream consumer would just say FU to companies and not buy it, they would continue using their current laptop for another 3 years.

Damn, I feel great snagging up my 3090s for nearly nothing. I knew this was going to happen, even the 3000 series has gone up again in price ever since the release of the 4000 series. Guess we can only see next year where things are at, the 4000 series are already dropping in price but not where they should be.

Casual gamer here, anything over $500ish for a mid-premium card is going to be a easy pass for me. Seems like that means PC gaming is dead to me now.

What is a 101? Spare some time to do some reading instead of this word diarrhea we have to correct you on. Samsungs node size was A) bigger compared to tsmc B) cheaper Hence the 3070 price Everyone is ignoring tsmc's part in this, look how much of their operating costs is net profit. And where were NVIDIA "confirmed" to plan to name this a 4060? Nowhere, you made it up cause a full 104 is NEVER a xx60 card. I dont really block people, prefer to let them know when they are wrong.First, your die ratios assumptions make no sense. Obvious you have little idea and are here just to vent your frustration. Second, tsmc is just as stupid with their prices as NVIDIA and AMD. You bring up die size cause you were 100% wrong on the transistor count, whereas its transistor count that really matters. Ad104 has more than 3090ti, the comparison to 3060 die size is just dumb cause it was samsungs node, mediocre and cheap. Now they have a great custom one, of course the size will be smaller if transistor density went over 3x up per mm2.

1 - The only one venting frustrations is you. Stop raging for multibillion dollar corporations, they can rob people just fine without your help. 2 - Where was it confirmed? We already had this conversation, it was confirmed to MLID so you can strawman and say he's lying, and we went over dies last time, and who was wrong? Oh yeah it was you who was mixed up about what die is what. 3 - The 3060 Ti was GA104. You know, that card you have. 4 - Stop pretending you're so dumb that you couldn't tell "less transistors than a spoon" was a joke. Transistor count doesn't determine price, the size does, and I was pointing out it's a puny and relatively cheap chip for nVidia. Edit: Welp, even the 3070 Ti used the same GA104 die, the 3060 Ti version was cut down a notable amount, looks like I have to eat shit on that one. You were right. But The GA104 is 392mm², still a far cry from the AD104's 295mm², so unless there's something else I'm missing or mixed up about, my point about it being a tiny cheap die stands. The GA106 used in the vanilla 3060 was 276mm², that's a lot closer to this AD104.

yeah, same way everything else is confirmed to him
https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/man-using-banana-as-telephone-62560220.jpg
as for the die positioning, size and node, not gonna repeat myself, read it first cause replying to you is like you can't put letters together. and you never answered my fist question anyway, when did 60 ever match the last gen flagship for fp32 tflops ? care to answer that maybe ?

I have no reason to doubt him about it. What would he gain by making up that info that 99.999% of people give 0 shits about? As for your question, hell if I remember, you tell me. I get what you're saying, but to me that's not particularly relevant, especially when you remember the prices... what will they make it? $800 USD at best as opposed to $900 for the reference model when they were going to name it 4080?

no, you tell me. you're the one questioning it.
Transistor count doesn't determine price, the size does
/facepalm/ so if a node has 3x transistor density as other one, it costs the same ? you are absolutely clueless.

you mean why a yt leaker channel make up stories for clicks and likes ? are you that f***ing clueless ? cause people like you believe it, to the degree they'd even do keyboard fights for his bs.

No I'm not "questioning it", that's irrelevant info that strays away from the fact that it's nowhere near a high tier chip. Stop ranting about random shit. Does the key point still elude you? If you think their 295mm chip on a TSMC 5nm node they're calling 4N costs so much that it justifies naming it 4080 12GB, or 4070 Ti and charging $900 USD, you're the one that's clueless unless every damn thing I've ever heard regarding prices was all made up.

tell me where I did. and that xx60 that matches last gen full die for tflops, seriously ? or else I'll start to suspect you might not know what you're talking about.

that this is not a xx60. are you stupid or something ? it's a normal xx70 card. you'd know if you read what I wrote.

Outrageous prices can only exist when their is a lack of supply. Initial supplies of 40xx series (and RDNA3) have been abysmal so far. When millions of cards are released into inventory channels, prices will tank. Just wait for it. In a few months I believe even the 4080 will be around $799.

the issue is 1. overstock on last gen 2. shareholders expecting record profits every quarter, like in pandemic, that is for nvidia, amd and tsmc equally. I don't think supply is as impactful.
