A 104 tier die GPU for about $1556 USD... nice to see the low to mid range prices are reaching what Jensun dreams of at least in that one place. I have no doubt he's also thrilled he's passing off what should have been named 4060 Poor Man's Edition as a "4070 Ti". At this rate I'll be switching to a console by the time whatever the next stupidly named Xbox is called arrives.

It's actually available in china for $1030-$1100 custom models. Still expensive for what it is, expect 1200e in europe
Yeah most likely .... But dear lord the price is super inflated ...... 🙁

This class of card shouldn't cost more than 700€. Maybe 800, but then it's supposed to be including all taxes applicable.

If the 4080 series is $2500 to $3000 for me then I don't see the 4070 series being an affordable video card series either. My only theory at this point is Nvidia are releasing at such exorbitant prices for new series to move old series because they have so many of the old series that have not sold due to thinking they were going to be selling directly to miners forever.

The goal post has been moved so much that they've already succeeded, they have people like you saying that €700-800 is okay for a low-mid tier card. Again, this thing is a 104, not even 103, that's the "4080". The fucking thing has less transistors than a spoon. €700-800 is an entire console + games. Edit: For anyone wanting to take a dig at my "spoon" joke. It's the size of a 3060, it was going to named 4060, it's a galaxy behind the high tier of this gen, it is for all intents and purposes it is an x60 class GPU.

I guess you are right? That said, how are they thinking of getting out of this in the long run, over years and generations? Old overpriced stock? New overpriced stock? With this tempo and number of cards left to buy (new and used as well), it almost feels like they have to backtrack more than the average guru's Steam and EGS libraries combined. Even if they get rid of Ampere stock, they still have Lovelace stock to move... which they won't in the next two years with such prices. My fear is the following: They won't be able to push the total of leftover Ampere and Lovelace stock... so when the next gen launches, they will still release them for exorbitant prices to move stock that's again 3 years old. They will never get out of this hole. Why I fear this? Because they are stupid enough to never lower prices to where they belong to actually sell cards... with AMD just using Nvidia's policies to "justify" their own mediocre releases to be more expensive than people should pay either. So in the end all you can do is either buy old products for prices you wouldn't have paid for them when they were new, or flash out 3 times the money the cards would have cost 2019. Great way to kill their PC gaming market, btw.

Well you are right, but there are some increased costs to manufacture a card too, not just price hikes for no reason. Don't get me wrong, three years ago you would have been right to say this card should cost 600 and no more, so I agree with you. That said, with all the respect I can muster, if somebody wants to switch to consoles they should do so, it's a personal choice, and it doesn't make them any less of a gamer imho. I won't, because the reason I left consoles are still the same that are so annoying these days with those boxes. Still, I would much, much prefer prices for PC hardware to reach "normal" levels again before I even buy a console, but that's just me.

All I can say at this point is RIP high end gaming.

Meanwhile CPU prices barely badged from the last gen pricing ... Only AMD tried too overprice zen4 but soon drop em right back down ... So the 5nm is more expensive the shipping is more expensive ....the CPUs stay at mildly higher price and GPUs almost 3x if not straight up 3x their price ... Curious !

Not high end gaming, the hobby itself. Even on the software side its done.

I tend to agree with you. Plus, I miss the outcry of frustration, or protest. But even the loudest advocates of blaming rising prices on quasi-monopolies have not been heard or seen, since every GPU / CPU vendor does it. Which suddenly makes it magically okay if the preferred brand does it against the established market leaders... curious as well.

just don't buy them until something will be back as before 2020

yah no thanks if the prices hold true only way i getting new gpu is it gifted to me by someone crazy enough to pay those prices, my ps5 look like an amazing bargin now, which kinda sad cause i starting play more on pc again, and my 1070ti barely cuts at 1440p using DSR there doing what i said they could do, double the price and lose half the buyers and still cover the normal profits.

That's a long wait. I'll just cough up the money, i will keep it for 5-6 years anyways. High prices are only a problem for people upgrading every generation, which is a waste of money to begin with.

when did a xx60 ever have the same tflops as last gen full die ? Titan Maxwell had 50% more than 1060, even 2060 had less than that two generations later. Stop crying that this is a 4060 for likes. It's just not. It's a 4070, configured to trade blows with last gen top card, exactly like 1070 vs Titan Maxwell, just abhorrently expensive.

27% more than 3090Ti
