They say 5x, 10W LED = 50W incandescent. But its a little less than that. I replaced all bulbs in my house over the past 3 years with very well reviewed ones (they appear to be from China mostly) and they all perform great with zero failures. I bought a load of spares because prices were pretty good in bulk so am probably set for 10 years+.
Old ones were 5x, new ones are bit higher. Different sources give different mapping: https://ledhut.co.uk/blogs/news/led-equivalent-wattages-against-traditional-lighting https://www.viribright.com/lumen-output-comparing-led-vs-cfl-vs-incandescent-wattage/ https://learn.eartheasy.com/guides/led-light-bulbs-comparison-charts/

I meant LED sorry. I know they are meant to last a long time and you could just do one at a time if you're broke but for someone on the so called breadline wage it can be an issue. The UK government used to give out free energy saving bulbs to the poorest amongst us but they weren't LEDs. I think a lot of households got like 3 free bulbs. I know my Ex used to get them when she wasn't working but not sure if it was just local councils or not. I read this in the some paper -"The government wants LED light bulbs to account for 85% of all bulbs sold by 2030. At the moment they only account for two thirds. Fluorescent and Halogen lights will also be banned from sale in the UK, although this will not take effect until 1 September 2023".

Blackmailing large corporations or mobsters is a very dangerous game, because both can afford loyalty breaking bounties and enforcers of different kind.
Pretty much this. Nvidia already has some seriously smart people working for them, probably wouldn't take long to plug the holes they have compromised and maybe even track some of the people down. Then its bye bye to jail for them. Or Nvidia could just offer a reward for any information about the group or individuals involved.... wouldn't take much to get one of these hackers to come forward and rat on the others for a quick payday.

The hackers are threatening to release drivers that never cause a CTD or glitches, and which boost performance on all nVidia cards to the point that users won't want to update for years. Lol

Mining by itself isnt an issue, lots of ways to offset power use/emissions. Guess the leather jacket should have spend some money securing equipment, instead of his kitchen ๐Ÿ˜€

I see 2 problems here (the second may be a real problem is true): 1. First is that you can't say you are helping gamers when you open HR rate to all cards, and we all know prices and availability of GPUs became a problem because of the miners. So in fact they are against gamers. 2. If and I say IF, those hacker are in fact working for Nvidia. Let us put it this way: Nvidia wants to make more money, and let us be serios, selling to miners is the way to go. But Nvidia does not want to lose the gaming comunity (no knowing the direction mining will go). So the will say we are putting GPU's on the market that are not good for mining but are for gaming. But at the same time they have a hacker comunity that works for them, and those help make the cards work for mining. And so all the blame will pass to the hacker and Nvidia will say we are doing everything we can to stop this. (Yes I know conspiracy theory but hey all is possible for money)

Sometimes I just wish this world and humanity would go to hell already, it would be well deserved.

"LAPSUS$, a hacking organization, has vowed to "help the mining and gaming communities" by finding a way to the Lite Hash Rate (LHR) GPU hash rate limitation." Can anyone explain me how this can help gaming community?
Clearly a typo on their part... Seriously though, if i didn't hate miners already...

ยจ Yes it is. Answer me this one thing : what does mining contribute with to the world? The answer is NOTHING. Aside of filling your pocket with a made up currency, and in the process of doing so wasting a huge amount of power, and also materials for hardware.

You have to factor in the lifespan though. I switched to LED bulbs 6-7 years ago and have not replaced a single one of them so far. Usually i replaced every bulbs in my house once a year or two.
All my led bulbs die so often ๐Ÿ™ in 2 different apartments.

But hacking is still a crime right? and this is hacking + exstorsion. What do they want to accomplish? this is just unjustified crime. Isn't it? There is no real social or justice stuff behind this action, is purely extorsion for money.

This "made up currency" is something that people are willing to use to exchange goods. Crypto in-general is bringing market opportunities (like Coinbase) and thus jobs, and mining is an intro to that for a lot of people; I'd have no interest in crypto if it wasn't for mining. It also funds GPU manufacturers since most people before would buy maybe 1 GPU each generation for gaming (if that), and creates various opportunities to marketplaces like Newegg Shuffle that bring in more page hits.
Yes, greedy ***** such as yourself are willing use and exploit it to the fullest. Crypto isn't benefitting the world as a whole in any possible way - the only people who would ever make that argument are scummy miners... and no, crypto isn't creating any jobs - not any legal ones anyways... But lol i love your argument about how it funds gpu manufacturers... yes, miners have caused the gpu prices to bloat to unimaginable levels... thanks for that contribution!

BWT, here is an example of the ethics and moral of crypto bros. Or lack thereof. Major crypto exchanges refuse to freeze all Russian user accounts
Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken, three of the worldโ€™s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, are joining others in refusing requests by Ukraine to freeze all Russian users' accounts. While the companies have frozen the accounts of those targeted by sanctions, they will not implement a universal block on Russian accounts. On Sunday, Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Federov tweeted a plea for all major crypto exchanges to block addresses of Russian users. โ€œIt's crucial to freeze not only the addresses linked to Russian and Belarusian politicians, but also to sabotage ordinary users,โ€ he wrote.

@Horus-Anhur I am curious to know your opinion: what blind total blocking of account linked to Russian citizens will accomplish?

are you really that stupid to ask that question? you do realize what your country is doing right now?

The same thing that all the other sanctions are doing. Crypto in this case is becoming an escape route for Russia.

i really don't want to wade into politics so i will just tick off a few points of interest. while some ordinary people mine coin in Russia, they are the exception. the high cost of mining and the "free money" that comes from burning petrochemicals for electricity to mine means that the oligarchs are the biggest miners with employees that do the actual IT work. so look at the bully boys from Rosneft etc... and because of the endemic corruption and bad pay many public employees mine on the dime of their job, but their numbers are few compared to the guys who own football clubs. they have entire buildings just for mining. so if any financial sanctions are to work the loopholes must be closed. and there is no bigger loophole than blockchain.

That`s only the case if people in official banks do the crypto. Somehow I doubt their thought capabilities.
