12 GB of RAM ! damn ……….never used my phone for more than calling ,texting ,email , viber ,pictures all of which don't require that ram ! We laptops for complex stuff and big fat pcs for other lovely activities !
More often than not... I never have my DSLR on me when I come upon the loveliest asset to capture ( audio/foley, texture source, image reference but more than not some awesome architecture that needs to be scanned ) Photogrammetry apps have real time tracking indicators that will change from red yellow to green indicating how far off from a usable overlap one is straying... Which is pretty awesome in and of itself? However I usually can never render out usable 3d geometry from my phone. Not even as a preview. Which means that I have to wait till i get to my desktop till I know whether or not that session was success or bust. More times than not a failed render attempt is due to lack of memory ( even on my desktop ) The phone is coming close to a viable mobile studio in ones front shirt pocket. Soderbergh just released the first hollywood production theatrical release shot on an iphone ( which I had no clue of during my first viewing of "unsane" ) Just because one can not imagine a phone having usefulness in the field as it were... An army of creatives chomping at the bit fer just a bit more power under the hood might beg to differ. https://appleinsider.com/articles/18/02/22/director-steven-soderberghs-shot-on-iphone-unsane-feature-premieres-at-berlin-film-festival https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartmobilevision.scann3d&hl=en_US

They look nice, but I will pass. iPhone and Samsung both are not pumping out anything revolutionary anymore, so why bother with replacing my perfectly fine iPhone 7 (128GB)? They need to slow it down with these useless yearly releases. Make it every other year. Oh, and the prices........ I am not going to pay a laptop/desktop price for damn phone (no matter how fast it gets, still not a full fledged laptop or desktop).

I wonder how many people will really make use of 12GB RAM, 1TB internal storage.... 1%? 🙄
On Samsung? 1~2GB from that will be given to iGPU. 3GB will be eaten by Samsung's software you do not like, but can't remove. Yes, even then 8GB would be enough. But marketing and Samsung is likely making those memory chips => Cheap.

Oh that's why the memory chips have been exceptionally expensive in late 2017 / 2018, said to drop in second half of 2018 (which barely happened). It was all ramped up and inflated, so they knew they had enough chips left for 1TB of storage and 12GB of RAM 😀 j/k ofc

Sure. If I make something and sell it at crazy high prices... then I can make product based on that and it costs me mere fraction of what it would for someone who gets those overpriced chips from me. And when entire memory industry goes crazy on prices... insourcing cheaply is win.
