Damn. Good thing ram is on the cheap side right now.
Has been for quite a few years. I guess it just depended on how much of how fast you wanted spend the extra dollars on. I have been prepared for some time now for games to start using up more and more RAM. I always use up more than 10-12gb when gaming and usually a mecca, metric, crap ton if I have DSR on forcing 4-8k in games/benchies. I have simply destroyed the 6,144mb of RAM on my GPU's that is for sure. Here's looking to DX12 and its' ability to properly allocate resources and exploit hardware closer to the metal.......

It's a non issue anyway, if you can only afford 4GB RAM, you aren't building a gaming PC in the first place
Aye, for those with older systems yeah sure but I wouldn't build a system for anyone these days without at least 8GB since it's a nice boost above the 4GB threshold (in case of using any ram hungry programs) and it's stupidly cheap (by PC component standards) that it's like a no brainer. I've always had the mentality of RAM that I'd prefer to have more and need less than have less and need more. This rang true the most when i had my Q6600 setup with 4GB of RAM which was great for XP but started to die a death in Vista x64 and when I looked to upgrade to 8GB DDR2 the prices had sky rocketed almost higher than DDR3 equivalents. Wish I'd just gone for 8GB right at the start.

Surprised? No. Skeptical? Very much so. Especially since some of these requirements are double that of their last game, based on the same engine. Now if it were say 6 required and 8 recommended, then yes that I would believe in a heartbeat.

Don't really care, only thing I'd be missing is win10.

Recommended 16gb.......................................That's never happened before.

16Gig recommended šŸ˜± and my 9Gig has been treating me well for the past 5 years. Oh well if this becomes common ill have to pickup 16Gig dual channel instead.

it's not the exact same engine. Yes, it may say frostbite, or even frostbite 3 (not sure they say the 3 anymore?) but there are features in Battlefront's engine that were not in BF4's engine But you're comparing apples and oranges anyways. BF4 is on the PS3 and Xbox 360, which basically stunted the game and required them to cater to lower-end systems. Battlefront, is not on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Before you go: What does console gaming have to do with high requirements on PC?, please just stop, don't ask, as it's really not worth explaining if anyone doesn't understand. As to people not being surprised? no i'm sorry, you may be skeptical, and i'm not saying you aren't allowed to be, i'm not even saying i'm not skeptical, but if you actually read over this thread, it's: "OMG OMG OMG, you mean...as time goes on...i need to upgrade my PC?!!! BLASPHEMY! BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!!!"

But itĀ“s gonna be like 99% of the time, people in charge of pushing system requirements donĀ“t have a clue because they donĀ“t play on pc nor code games. 60fps console games shall run on a toaster unless optimization is crap.

Frostbyte is Frostbyte... but they have start moving to PBR and other stuffs like that you see appears in many new games, engine ( who should have not make their move to Battlefield Hardline as example, but some part are there ) .. in addition of new iterations, they have too start to include different approaches, who are more used, or new too in 3D professional engines .. There's really many interessant approach on this new Frostbyte who come from 3D, CGI, advancement.. really, really pushed way higher than some other engine, its a real pleasure to see all thoses CGI and VFX technic make their way on gaming... even if it is just a start... On the sense of graphics.. i smell, 2016 as a real forward intention on this sense... When i see a change, a boost ( or whatever we can call this ), in the professional softwares used by the industry of gaming... i can allready see the smell of changes in the gaming industry .... could maybe take time, but today, things are running so fast.

EDIT - Actually does increase during action
After some time it will use even more. 5h gaming straight even Witcher 3 used well over 8GB ram. I have disabled page file.

Is that memory in use or commit charge?

Hard to tell, windows is still paging some filles even after i disabled it. We'll probably need Pill Monster expalanation for that. :P

Commit charge is virtual address space used. The commit limit is determined by system memory + pagefile, if you have pagefile disabled, commit limit will be system memory only. It's very likely if your memory in use shows say 5GB, commit charge could be closer to 7GB. https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fazius.com%2Fblog%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F07%2Ftaskmanager_commit.png&f=1 Above image shows the user has 8GB system memory and 16GB pagefile (24GB commit limit). If they disabled pagefile it would show 8GB commit limit.

DAMN!! I only have 80MB edosimm in my computer!!!!
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/175/175902.jpg
I'm gonna predict that its gonna work just fine without 8GB's.
exept laptop since last year it's hard to find a PC with less than 8g... even with celeron CPU as the price of the ram have fall down.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/258/258664.jpg
I don't know what the average machine has these days, but... as far as I can tell, going with less than 8gb of ram hasn't been advised for gaming rigs in quite some time I believe.

Hmm, i guess i need to upgrade then. Because i got 6,5 GB free when i close down most processes (57 processes running) I'm thinking about some simple Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP 2x8GB CL8 1600 MHz 1.35v for ā‚¬94,90.
