Damn. Good thing ram is on the cheap side right now.

I'm gonna predict that its gonna work just fine without 8GB's.

8GB ram seems reasonable. No gaming machine should have less than 8GB this days. This is not the first game that needs 8GB+.

I find the recommended spec more intriguing 970/290 for what resolution, 1080p? And ultra settings? 🙄

then please remind me of one that needs more than 8gb or 8gb for that matter, i can play any game out there maxed out 1080p/60fps, there are but a few games which use more than couple of gigs, watch dogs if i remember was the only one to come close to eating all the ram i had, but even then just because a game eats more ram does not mean it is making any use of it, ofcourse the game will run just fine with 4gb unless they pull avanced warfare and put a code in the exe to prevent game from starting with less ram
I was using over 12GB on GTA V the other day. It normally hovers around 10GB though.

This mirrors my experiences. Here's hoping for a redaction or patched exe cause high-end ddr2 has been pretty much wiped from the planet by now.

Having 8+ RAM on a PC is not just for gaming, everything is better, it's like giving your system bigger lungs. As games are very hungry on resources and as more optimized they will benefit from whatever you have more, not only more powerful. And yes, today RAM is cheap with many choices depending of how much money you want to spend for. And think something else..people who struggle or just look at minimum reqs of a game will always be negative to "8GB RAM is the minimum today", always. I never even look at min req of a game, just take a peek on recommended.

The game is 64 bits? If so then great. If not, then its probably using massive swap space like GTA 4 and newer games... I can't wait for most AAA games and game engines to go 64 bits just to get rid of the ram limits.

A lot of bull**** in their sys. req, marketing 101.

I wasn't under the impression that this title was bringing forth anything new, graphically/AI wise that BF4 hasn't already. Is this not the case?

I'd be surprised if it didn't.

If you play big sand box games like GTAV on some high resolutions, settings, and post processing then more than 8gb of ram will be used easily. Plus, future proofing your rig. I am not going to need to upgrade for a long time now.

It's a non issue anyway, if you can only afford 4GB RAM, you aren't building a gaming PC in the first place

^^ This Nobody uses hardware that's good enough to play these games with only 4 gigs, it's like cutting out an athletes lung :') And 8GB is the bare minimum for games these days. Nobody goes .exe hunting in their process list before they start a game.

I'll just leave this here. "New testing shows that 4GB of RAM is still plenty for gaming"
That article gives no settings used however. Does not take into consideration 4k, aa, af, msaa, and other post processing that people use everyday. Also with how much of a memory hog Google Chrome is and all of its huge memory leaks, I believe it would use a lot more ram or they are loading a very basic website. They also have no mentions of page files or anything of the sort. I remember playing TF2 only having 2gb of ram when the requirements are only 1gb I believe. If you have textures and other improvements enabled, source engine runs out of memory in about an hour or so.

Screen Resolution and image quality enhancements tend to primarily be in the domain of VRAM, not RAM. Textures on the other hand are files on your HDD/SSD that need to be accessed, so they are naturally loaded into the RAM memory. So no, 4k(who even plays at that yet?) AA, AF and post-processing overall does not put heavy demands on RAM unless you have actually run out of VRAM, at which point you got yourself an entirely different and more serious problem.

Ahhh, then a 8 core, 32gb, 4 card system should suffice.... Patiently waits for Beta...
