http://www.gamershell.com/news_148107.html Looks like Bohemia Interactive will be utilizing this device for a upcoming game. 🙂
Arma Tactics takes the finest assets used in the Arma series and the best from games like Jagged Alliance and X-COM Releasing these screenshots, Bohemia Interactive today announced that Arma Tactics, a turn-based close-combat strategy game developed for NVIDIA Tegra devices, will be available in Q2 2013. In Arma Tactics, the player takes control of a four-member Special Forces team. There are no given strategies, rails to move on, or paths to follow; it's up to the player to decide how he will play through both the story-driven missions and generated missions with randomized objectives. Whether using stealth or a more direct approach, players will need to use their strategic thinking and use both basic and advanced weaponry while facing many different opponents - ranging from unorganized local militia to smart and skilled mercenaries. Arma Tactics takes full advantage of Project SHIELD's console-grade controller, and when connected to a television, the game utilizes Project SHIELD's multi-screen gaming, allowing the audience to experience entertaining vantage points that differ from the player's. Optimizations for NVIDIA Tegra 4 include enhanced physics simulation, bloom post-processing effects and increased objects and geometry. Mobile devices are powerful enough to run games well and with very good visuals but, unfortunately, most are saddled with clumsy touchscreen controls that make them a chore to play in my experience, unless they have very simple controls such as Angry Birds or Cut the Rope. I'd rather play games on my PS Vita than my iPad 4 despite the fact that the Apple device has a much higher resolution display and better graphics (just check out Infinity Blade 2). It is for that reason that I still think there is a market for a portable gaming device with proper controls like the 3DS or PS Vita. Project Shield looks promising but I'm not entirely sure about the design of it as it doesn't look as easy to carry around as the either of the existing handhelds. On the other hand, it is shaped like an Xbox 360 controller so it should feel very comfortable to hold for console gamers.

It's a great idea but yeah, too little too late. I'd be more interested in the multi-screen functionality but that's considering more than just the ARMA devs and a few others take advantage of the tech. I'm somewhat supportive of cloud gaming when it comes to handhelds but I have a hard enough time streaming 1080p youtube videos without having to stop for a minute to let it load, let alone 4k. Chances are I'd be streaming at closer to 480 or 720 max, in which case I'd be better off just buying a proper handheld. 🙂 I absolutely agree that they need to focus less on touch screens and more on physical controllers. There are very few times on the Vita or 3DS where I've benefited from using the touch controls and I can't count the times I've played an iOS and Android game where touch controls hindered the gameplay. Even the most simple of touch screen games, like Angry Birds, would be easier and more precise in it's controls with sticks and buttons. And finally, I'm glad that they're not afraid of making the system slightly larger and bulkier in a world where smaller is usually better (unless you're talking about tablets). The 3DS and Vita look sleek but using either for long periods of time can be uncomfortable, and in some cases painful. Having a controller to put in my hands not only feels more natural but there's less chance of my hands covering things like the speakers or parts of the screen. The only things I hope are that they raise the upside down "V" part on the bottom of the controller so there's more room to wrap your hands around. By that I mean there looks like there's a ~1" gap between the control sticks and the NVIDIA logo that seems like it should be smaller to allow for better hand placement. Also the left stick seems like it should be moved a little to the left and up (unless they'd get sued by MS for copying design or something). **Added**Last paragraph is just me singing the big hands blues. 🙂

I've loving this thing, from what i seen soo far. I'm.. almost addicted to emulators, i run sega and snes on my psp daily. I was looking at a tegra 3 tablet + bluetooth controller. But this would pass that up easily. If they put bluetooth and maybe GPS into this thing, i'll be all over it. Also it would have to be able to stream from an ATI video card too. The screen on this sounds incredible. I want it bad. The streaming.. is give or take, i seen tablet PC streaming before, wasn't "great". If this is good, then i'll go for it for sure. [/want]

I suppose its kinda cool, but it doesn't look like it'll fit in your pocket. I't also has the feature of being able to stream things from your PC to a TV, but in that case, you might as well save the money and just play on the PC directly. I want to like it but, meh.
