Sabrent Reveals DS-UICA USB-C Docking Station for Smartphones and Ultra portables

Sabrent has introduced the DS-UICA USB-C Universal Docking Station, designed to cater to a wide range of devices including laptops, ultrabooks, Chromebooks, smartphones, and tablets across various operating systems such as Android, macOS, and Windows. This docking station is equipped with a USB-C upstream host port that operates at 10 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2x1), ensuring high-speed connectivity for modern devices. The DS-UICA model offers extensive connectivity options. It features two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports, both supporting 10 Gbps and 5 Gbps data transfer rates respectively. Additionally, it includes two USB 2.0 ports ideal for peripherals such as keyboards and mice. These ports provide a power output of 5V/1.5A for charging connected devices.

For display outputs, the docking station is equipped with dual HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports, allowing for various configurations such as dual HDMI or one DP paired with one HDMI output. It supports 4K resolution at 60 Hz through Display Stream Compression (DSC), enhancing the visual experience for high-definition content.

Network connectivity is robust with the inclusion of an RJ45 port that supports Gigabit Ethernet, offering speeds up to 1000 Mbps for faster and more reliable internet access compared to wireless connections. The unit also includes a dual microSD/SD card reader supporting UHS-I with speeds up to 104 MB/s, facilitating quick access to storage media.

Audio connectivity is comprehensive with three 3.5 mm audio ports for output, microphone, and a combined in/out port, catering to various audio setup requirements.

The docking station is powered by an external 120W power adapter and supports device charging up to 80W. It also includes a 70 cm USB-C to USB-C cable for convenient setup. The design incorporates a device cradle and front-facing LED indicators for operational clarity.

For software compatibility, the Sabrent DS-UICA requires DisplayLink drivers, which are available for Microsoft Windows 7 and newer, macOS 10.6 and up, Android 5.0+, ChromeOS R51+, and Ubuntu 14.04. The docking station may also be compatible with other Linux-based systems.
