The store I shop from is sold out, another store has some KFA2 4080 which cost as much as 4090, and another store has a bit of everything. Those premium 4080 priced at the level of 4090 make no sense.

None of them make any sense... spend 15% more and get 40% more performance... that is if there were any 4090's available... and i think that is the exact reason why there arent any available 4090's anywhere... nvidia is well aware of this fact, and tries to force people into buying those sh1tty 4080's instead by not sending out new 4090's shipments..

There are currently 65 4080s are my local microcenter. There's plenty around. I have one in my cart on newegg for MSRP right now. They're there.

Seems like no one is buying them because they are priced too high for little performance gain. I know for me, this card even at $1000 is too much. At my resolution it's barely faster. Couple that with very few game releases recently that matter.. seems like it's a bust and/or they are intentionally price fixing to some degree. Guess we'll have to wait for quarterly numbers.

Pay a bit more and get a MUCH faster 4090.
Pay a lot less and get a 6900XT which is plenty damn fast for any game today. Or even a 6800XT tbh is fast enough, and both have the same amount of memory as that 4080 Ah yea, and in less than a month, still pay less and get more performance, more memory and that good feeling that you stopped supporting a company which knows no limits to greed.

I think it's a combination 🙂

What sold out? I just checked one of the popular stores and they have lots and lots of 4080 in stock, various models. 4090 is the one that sold out for a moment after the release, from a much smaller stock than 4080, naturally, but even those are now available, especially if you aren't super particular about the brand.
Newegg and best buy sold out in like an hour however they did get more stock in. When I posted they were both sold out.

you want one? Microcenter in KC has plenty in stock, people aren't buying them and not camping out like they were in 2021/2022.
Do I want one? Yes, for like $899 which with inflation factored in is about what it's worth. Which of course is why nobody is camped out for them.

If my salary had gone up as much as GPU prices I wouldn't mind buying at these prices but I ain't earning 16k a month. It's disgusting mostly.

The "gaming" revenue is down..... Translation... The GPU mining market does not exist anymore 😛

Let this sink in
(...) gross margin of around 63.2% (...)
Think about it when wondering why GPU prices are so high. This is insane

Yep!...same here, both stores over in Atlanta are stocked full as well. after taxes around 1400/1500 bucks.

4090 and 4080 are both sold out here in France. I read Nvidia GPU inventory reportedly doubled on year to year? They’ve way too many GPU to get rid off on their inventory.
Weird this site still had stock : https://www.ldlc.com/en/computing/components/graphics-card/c4684/+fdi-1+fv121-20576,20618.html Only reason they go sold out somewhere is that nvidia didn't ship many cards to begin with, just to mimick the idea of them being very popular....no they need a good boycot to feel the pain..

Maddness:

Of course gaming sales are down 51%, there's no more miners buying up huge stocks of cards. Even if the 4090 was $900 and the 4080 $650 the sales would still be down.
that is true too. you just can't top what happened in 2020/21

And miners are also selling their cards, so that takes a bit of market share away from nvidia Although I admit I was expecting to see many more cards on the used market.

I noticed that miners are dumping huge amount of used GPUs just very recently, probably FTX collapse was the last straw that broke the camel's back (miners trade too I guess). Fun time ahead.

It would be nice if Binance would also go under.

If Binance goes down, it would likely mean crypto collapse for years.
