Yeah.... IMO there is no way the bean counters would allow the 1170 to come shipped with 12 gigs of ram let alone gddr6!
1180 maybe.

Wouldn't a real result from an unreleased GPU that would obviously need some inhouse non WHQL driver show "driver not approved" instead of "valid result"?

I don't buy it. I'd like to, but I don't. Hope I'm wrong though, as an 1180 Ti would then likely be almost twice as fast as my 1080 Ti and that would be the heftiest upgrade yet. But no, I really don't buy it.

Also driver version they are using there is the (June 2018) 398.36 driver.

Initially they perform a little less or on par with the ti's but tend to beat them later on as drivers mature. As for these results I dont buy it 16gb vram just seems like too much for me and wouldnt this be slow for gddr6 as it's only at 10gbps.

More hype BS.

BS, NV has no need to unleash such performance boost while there is still no competition to 1080TI, I think that 20%~30% performance boost is more reasonable (1170 vs 1070 / 1180 vs 1080 etc).

If this article and this:

... together will happen? Turing with GDDR6?
But if this IS the case: Wouldn't we run into the next crysis because GDDR6 chips will not be broadly available at first?
But WOW, 1170 beats a 1080ti? This sounds very nice. If prices would be in a reasonable range (not some overhyped 1500$ thing), say ~400 to 500 for 1170, then:

Regardless if it has GDDR6 or HBM2 or GDDR5X or GDDR5, I don't care about the tech specifically as long as it is fast enough, what could be archived with any of those. The same goes with the chip itself.
EDIT: In the first screenshot in the article, the 16.384MB ... is that ... RAM or GDDR? System mem or graphic mem? It's mem from the card, right? 16 gigs .... I come from times where this was 1 - 16 megs! Please tell me I am NOT wrong! 😀

The odds of that being true are less than zero.
Extraordinary
Would 3DMark even know it was a GTX 1170? I have vague memories of unreleased cards showing as some generic placeholder rather than listing the correct model?
Could be remembering wrongly
