An engineer uses his free time to give a 22 year old game a cutting-edge feature FOR FREE, so a random guy comes and say "not impressed".
WTF?

The ignorance and lack of appreciation / understanding for what is going on in Q2VKPT is astounding.

I guess this is one way to show the tech in itโs full glory, except not... because the rest of the game is still in โ97. Just shows that the performance hit of ray tracing needs a heck of a lot of work. Itโs supposed to be a cheap and easy way to improve lighting, not a pathway to 50% fps. ๐

All I was saying is not a great example of ray tracing as the rest of the game is not realistic looking. Your also now just agreeing with me that ray tracing is expensive. I give up. ๐

It will be nice to play through Q2 again with RT feature and get a nice throwback just for kix.

I will have to see it in motion with my own eyes to really judge it. The early video shown before this really had issues cleaning up the noise of the path tracing.
Which is my biggest issue with RT aside from the huge waste of performance. Temporal artifacts and aliasing.

If you don't know why they chose this game for RTX showcase ray tracing - you probably shouldn't be here.
