Darren Hodgson:

My RTX 3080 cost £749. The RTX 4080 is slated to cost £1,270 (but more likely to be in excess of £1,300), which is far, far too much for me. There was a time when each new generation of graphics card came with the expected 20-30% performance increase over the last but now it seems you have to pay for that...
My 1080Ti was £600 but my electricity bill, my water bill, my gas bill, my food and even my dogs insurance was also three times cheaper at the time. Global recession, war in Ukraine, chaos in the Chinese economy, the strong USD, all factors that will continue to effect everything that is made, shipped and sold.

Remeber when these prices were for an ENTIRE sick build!!!! Heck, I remember when £1k was the sweet spot for truly godly PC rig.
Didn't an Amiga 500 cost more than a PS5?

So from what I've read these leaked benchmarks are only 15% faster than the 3090 Ti? I'm sure with DLSS 3 tricks they will tout crazy gains. But personally, this DLSS stuff bugs much as much as the pricing. It's just not *true* performance. It's a cheat. A workaround. Even if it looks nicer than 4k with like TAA, its a cheat. You're bringing the game to 1080p and then rescaling. It brings performance improvements so it's forgiven by everyone. Consoles do it and it's "haha peasants can't even game in real 4k".

I paid 600 for A500 with 512KB extra card, 799 for a A1200 and 999 for A1200+20MB Hdd
I had the same I think.

But it came with proper controls.

FIFA23 looks 'ok' and GT7 looks good 'sometimes' but you can tell its upscale.

Come next gen of consoles, I'm done spending on this crap (hopefully) Meanwhile:

The differences between console and PC are negligible for the most part at this point. Unless you play games competitively, there's very few differences.

That mouse? 😀

Too bad it costs literally double what it should considering it's a 70 class card and that's what they were going to name it. Those of you who think the "12GB" version was the 4070, nope, that was the 4060.

UK website listing 4080 at over £1400, il be amazed if that is the actual price on day 1. The 7900xtx needs to be seriously poor for £1400 to be justified.

RT and DLSS. Matters to some.

It's a fact that it's priced too high tbh lol
Its for the very wealthy or suckers to buy like all the Titan cards before. This time is even worse because of the extended time there is only the one highest end card which Nvidia has never done like this before.

Running the RTX 4090 together with Ryzen 5950x and the results for the TimeSpy is really lousy and worse than the 4080. See the screenshots attached after login.

But he is correct, there's to many people who fail to grasp the facts that everything in the world is considerably more expensive than it was a couple of years ago, and I mean things that are actually important. High end gaming isn't a right, it's a luxery and for those that can afford it well done, either you earnt the money, borrowed or stole the money or sold your child's kidney, either way it is what it is.
Well, I bought a 4090 and i still seem to be in position of my kidneys. It cost a fortune but i've been waiting a while with the 2070S which was showing its age. My logic was that if i'm going to be spending 1200$ for a 4080 i might as well go for the extra 400$ and get 24GB which will give this card much more life. The only thing I'm really annoyed with is the ridiculous 4 slot it takes (it's 3.5 slots but what am I supposed to do with the 0.5 left over?). I had to take out my x550 10gbit nic which is very inconvenient for me when transferring. A second issue that really annoys me is that it is voltage locked, when I inevitably put in a water block to take back all my Pcie slots I won't be getting any extra performance at all since this card is voltage limited. I should have done my research before jumping the gun... this card has so many negative points... 1. space 2.voltage locked 3. display port 1.4 4. ridiculous 12+4 pin connector which will also cost more money once i get the proper connector.

Free wisdom: Some things will always be priced too high for some people.
I found no wisdom in that at all. o_O

It's looking like this gpu will be a gaming beast at 1440P. 😎

FSR2 is close enough to DLSS2 IMO that it shouldn't matter. You'd have to literally analyze the frames to pick out differences and problems. RT on the other hand... RT reflections change a game's look a lot, so if NV31 still sucks absolute balls at that, that's an issue. Anywho... remember when I ranted that this shit was all going to happen and it's all downhill when the Titan was released... yeah. I called the pricing, I called the shifting of tiers/names to be deceptive, etc. Now where are those people who mocked me for saying it'd happen? And for the record, the 7900XT is more cut down vs the 7900XTX than the 6800XT was vs the 6900XT. AMD are selling an 800 class product at a halo price, don't give them a free pass either.

I paid 600 for A500 with 512KB extra card, 799 for a A1200 and 999 for A1200+20MB Hdd I also bough a SH A3000 and later on a M68030/8MB accelerator card for A1200 lol.
Oh man I miss those days, 499 UK pounds for my A500, then bought an SCA? '030 accelerator from the States, and later an A1200 with '040 accelerator and Connor HD. I sold my A1200 to get a PC weeks before resale prices went crazy... should never have sold it.
