Nvidia really did build way too many 30 series cards didn't they....
Feeding those numptys who genuinely thought the crypto bus to keep on rolling.
There are some interesting quotes from both sides of the crypto fence that were pushed out around 12 to 24 months ago. It would seem that the old school guys like Buffet were 100% accurate on their predictions.
When production hits zero, production costs hit zero.
NV and AMD will then focus on the console and/or data centre sides of the business until all the previous and new gen hardware is gone then introduce the next next gen at even higher prices, buy or dont buy.
Both companies can afford to play the waiting game, the consumer will blink first.

Production cost is never 0, unless they kick in the butt to all the workers and factories included in all those juicy contracts and dont forget about already invested money on next-gen whatever.
They may be able to win the waiting game, but their shareholders want more sales and more winning not a waiting game and a uncertain future.
Here's a list of nVidia GPUs in the recent years that were overpriced or severely overpriced, and any comparisons against them for "value" are just dumb:
Overpriced:
- RTX 2060 (original)
- RTX 2070 (original)
- RTX 2080 (original) .... the Super variants are actually okay'ish in perf/price
- GTX 1650
- RTX 3060
Very overpriced:
- GTX 1630
- RTX 3050
- RTX 3080 (12GB) - miner tax
- RTX 2060 (12GB) - miner tax
- RTX 4090 - Listing it here instead of the f*** joke because 4090 is actually very powerful, despite costing a ton. It still costs way more than it should, in a "normal" market this GPU would be the $1000 "Titan", but no more.
A f**** bad joke:
- RTX 2080 Ti
- RTX 3080 Ti
- RTX 3090 - Lots of people bought this one despite being extremely bad value, simply because nothing else existed on the market
- RTX 4080 - Considering shader counts vs the 4090, this one is actually a "4070"
- RTX 4070 Ti - Renamed "60" class GPU with more than double the price.
Out of this world:
- Titan RTX - Was not destined to the gamer market
- RTX 3090 Ti - Whoever bought this piece of shiet, congrats, you are the reason why we only have $1000+ GPUs in the new generation
.... and people still buy them. I hope they'll enjoy RTX 7000 generation entry level "7060 Ti" being $2000 with the RTX 7090 costing $5000 if they continue buying this overpriced crap.
Very much agreed. Got my hands on the 3090 asus strix oc upon launch for reasonable price (around 1500€). Would've gone for the 4090 but not past 1500...and as you said the 4080 is a joke.
no thanks that, is like double the price i payed for my 1070ti meaning xx60 cards are gona be like 699... i wont be buy gpu anytime soon i guess that poor 1070ti is gona be my 9800gtx all overagain, which was not replaced till it DIED and was RMA'ed
Potentially, this could bring the 3080ti into the almost affordable realms of sub £600.00, but that depends on availability and opportunistic profiteering (online shops and scalpers)
) market rates. - This is probably the only interesting thing about this £800.00 card (other than it's at least £200 too expensive).

I did! Glad I did. Got it for $1299 back in July. At the time it was a good deal. I knew this crap was going to happen. I have zero regrets and I'm good for years! The used cards are expensive also. Pick your poison. Get a better job. Save up, , bite the bullet and buy one. Just don't buy one for another 4-6 yrs. Try to buy a car right now.. Same crap.
hmm, the charts say something different. 1650, and 1060, 2060 are leading for video cards and the 3000 series have been out for 2+ years.
People are now buying 2nd hand 3060 and 3060 ti's and 3070s from their 1000 series card. Since they are selling at like $250 USD its a steal.
When its been the lowest in GPU sales in 20 years it goes to show that people are talking with their wallets now and its hitting these companies hard, mostly the AIB partners since they are the ones having to have high prices due to what it cost them from Nvidia.
In less than 4 months the 4090s have dropped $500 while in less than a month the 4080s have dropped $250-400. Still not many buyers.
All these companies should lose money, riding the wave of crypto and crying about costs once no one buys. haha
If people don't buy the cards, nvidia will be forced to drop prices, but guess what... while they might not sell in seconds like 4090s, the market will take a ton of them, enough that nvidia will keep the prices. This is the typical case of offer and demand.
No thank you. Bestbuy Canada pricing.
