What's in the .bat file? Curious.

780ti is not getting replaced any time soon. I mean, its price hasn't budged for like half a year now.

Just found the Asus 780TI Direct CU on sale at NCIX today for $620 with mail in rebate. Very .. very.. tempting. RE: 980GTX being faster than the TI, I will bet my next paycheque that it won't be.. perhaps in some benchmarks/situations it will be close, but the TI will still be superior.. the 980 is meant as a replacement to the 780.

I don't know. Looking at the history though of comparing 480 vs 570, 670 vs 580, and 770 vs 680, then what do we get? Again, I looked at some Guru3d reviews to draw comparisons, and the next gen x70 card is always faster than the previous gen x80 card: anything from 5 to 25% faster (670 25% than 580). So, if history repeats itself then I think you can expect the 970 to be faster than the 780. (Actually, this is another good reason to expect the 980 to be faster than the 780ti given the small performance gap between 780 & 780ti, and the need for the 980 to be significantly faster than the 970).

There was a 3dmark firestirke benchmark and 870 aka 970 scored ~ 1500points less then 780gtx.

I wouldn't buy a 4GB card it's just not futureproof enough, I think 6GB or 8GB should really be seen as minimum at this point, we all saw what happened with watchdogs despite the poor optimization games are becoming increasingly vram hungry, 4GB just isn't cutting it.

At 4K 3gb is plenty for me (2200-2500mb max allocation in the vast majority of games I tried, with ESO taking up to 2800mb with the unofficial ini edit to load the highest res textures available, and most hovering under 2gb), since I don't need MSAA (FXAA looks great and does a better job anyway at 4k compared to MSAA thanks to the algorithm having a much larger pixel count to work with + it hitting the remaining alpha aliasing, while having a minimal performance hit). I plan on buying two GTX 970 4GB cards as soon as they launch... possibly two 980's if I can swing it but we'll see what they launch at pricing-wise.

I don't think driver performance will figure very heavily in performance improvments for Maxwell specifically - the reason being that the Maxwell 750ti has been out for ages for them to fine tune drivers to the new architecture.

28nm really limit nvidia abilities, but the 750ti is awesome. if the GTX 980 and 970 overclock as much as 750ti if not more, then it could easily beat GTX 780TI. However the real gems will be GM200 on 20nm, 2k15.

An 8gb card will be a waste of time, your gonna need some very powerful core clocks to use that amount of memory. Expect to use quad sli, until core clocks increase dramatically this is never going to change. 4GB is the sweet spot for me.

Unless they do some "artificial" performance tuning - aka reduce performance of older architectures, to make maxwell seem better.

Haha, im out later today with family and friends in the Pub celebrating. I got the ok from the Wife, im not drunk now but i will be later, well not drunk but just merry, very rare that i actually get drunk as i like to have my wits about me when im out:)

Yeah i dont drink vodka or spirits mate just a few ales or lager. I may have a brandy later on but i always eat well when im out and hydrate myself with orange squash inbetween alcohol. Follow this golden rule and you should be ok and feel better the next day also.
