holding out for 860.

I think 870GTX will be between Titan (2668core) and 780ti, 880 just a little above 780Ti.
Its a GM204 chip after all and 4gb, from what I saw 8gb was for ES testing purposes, not mobile 🤓
GM210 is imo where its at for us at current next-gen 28nm ie GK110 or GCN2 r9-290s.
Dunno why would I want a 880gtx with 5.7tflops if I almost get that now Oc'ed 5.59tflops.
Someone with older gpu might find it interesting, no doubt^^

x2 860 8gb ftw
witcher3 proof. 😀

8Gb was for testing purposes (ES), kinda doubt if its gonna have 8gb, but you never know..

I hope the prices go down this time 😏and not up.

I think they will try to least match ram capability of PS4

So ~ 6-7Gb for gpu, Titan and Titan black then..
And you see what happens on console like game with 6gb vram, imo all judge WD way too much. Its a ****ty port no matter what. 😀
Nvidia ain't stupid to let 3gb be the limit on their flagship, 1.5gb 580gtx can still cope @ 1080p with low or no aa of course, rest almost maxed.

The problem of watchdog is it should dont need this amount of ram .
Most funny is it dont gain anything with a titanZ with 12Gb 2x 6gb ) and in reality it still run the same with a 6gb 780TI vs a 780TI 3gb .. ( this is contrary the early review, but final review, even here of guru3D show it too ) .
Anyway, with 512bits on last AMD GPU'sd, i dont really see Nvidia stay on 384bits ... even less if rumors of AMD using stacked HBM DDRam for their gpu's is confirmed ( i will not bet on this anyway tooay, even if it make nearly 6years AMD is developping stacked DDR ( or HBM ) ..

Interesting. I cant hold out until then since I have a lonely 1gb card in my 560ti. 3gb is enough to meet my needs just fine since I don't care about maxing everything out.

the way i see vram usage in wd is like this, folks are arguing bf4 can run ultra 1080 on a fast 1gb card and it's average frames will prove this, and there are indeed folks running with all the candy on 1gb cards too.
however it ain't optimal, you're gonna have dips basically you have a big problem in the form of a vram bottleneck.
lets take a look at fc4 and gta5, at least one of those is gonna break the 3gb barrier at 1080, if you don't agree then i give you witcher3, that one has me worried about 4gb personally.
it's the next-gen, unreal4 engine is here and it's vram hungry, say it's weak game devs if you wish, just like with all the other vram hog games.

What will the difference be between these cards @ 28nm compared to 20nm or less? Is it just heat and electric or is it performance also?
Goldie

So not much different. So we could buy one of these at the end of the year and still have something very similar to the 20nm or less cards that come out later?
I would want to buy a 870 or 880 to be honest.

What is the onboard CPU meant to do? I know what close-to-metal hardware access is but how does it do it with current games and older stuff? We will also have to wait for DX12? So I guess it would not help older games on DX11 and less?
