Windows 8.1 Update 2 Could Debut in July

The Russian super-leaker Wzor, who by the way is uncannily correct in his predictions, has pegged announcements on both operating systems coming on July 13-17 at the Worldwide Partner Conference. 

The first tweet goes like this: "Windows 8.1 Update 2 will be announced during Microsoft WPC 2014 July 13-17 Win 9 beta will be probably presented same time. by WZT" And the second: "JUNE 06/26/14, WINDOWS 8.1 UPDATE 2 RTM Build sign-OFF is more likely occurring now! by WZT"

60FPS coming to Youtube

YouTube will get a nice upgrade soon, support for 48 and 60fps YouTube videos is coming. Higher frame-rates will be a boon to anyone who wants to post footage of video games in action, particularly PC games, as many of them run at frame rates above YouTube's current 24fps frame rate. As a result, YouTube videos should give a much better sense of what the game in the video actually looks like to the person playing it.

Start Menu May Arrive in Windows 8.1 Update 3

Read .. more delays. Microsoft’s Terry Myerson revealed that the beloved Start Menu would return to the Windows platform in the near future, but didn’t specify an actual release date. Presumably it was going to launch in Windows 8.1 Update 2. Now sources are reporting that the Start Menu will not arrive until Windows 8.1 Update 3, available in Spring 2015.

AMD recently added a new feature to their Catalyst 14.6 Beta drivers, you can now mix several monitor resolutions and still create an Eyefinity (multi-screen) gaming setup. Funky stuff, and sure we wanted to check that out. So we will take two Full HD monitors and combine them with a WFHD (2560x1080) resolution monitor. The end result is something wide, very wide. We will pair the setup with a Radeon R9 295x2 and will show you that multi-monitor goodness for your gaming experience.

Demand for 55/90nm processes slows down

The utilization rate of 55nm/90nm processes at some foundries in China and Taiwan has begun to slip, possibly as a result of double-booking. The slowing orders for 90/55nm processes came at the time when the 8- and 12-inch fabs at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) are operating at full capacity and the capacity of the foundry house's 28/40nm processes has been fully booked, noted the sources.
