Weird, both Samsung and Nvidia all of the sudden are moving away from ARM-chip development for servers. The choice is so abrupt that the companies seem to have canned their projects completely. It is unsure as to why we see this sudden move from both companies, reports Wall Street Journal.

Point of View launches a new tablet line based on the latest Intel Atom platform and Microsoft Windows 8.1 Operating system. In the new Mobii Windows tablet line there are three models available: The 10 inch Mobii WinTab 1000W and Mobii WinTab 1000BW and the 8 inch Mobii WinTab 800W.

Game developer Crytek denies to be in financial problems. Rumors appeared over the weekend through website gamestar. In an interview with Eurogamer the studio denies all rumors. Now you can track-back the rumors towards wargaming.net, the studio behind World of Tanks actually tried to purchase Crytek. Anvi Yerli, co-founder of Crytek stated to Gamestar that a potential take-over from Wargaming would save the studio', as it would raise important funds for them.

A day or two ago I showed your this twitter photo from AMD's vice president of channel sales Roy Taylor showed a photo of a box with a new FX processor. The SKU indicates that the CPU is paired with liquid cooling. It is now confirmed that the processors is not new, but in fact the 8-core AMD FX-9590 Flagship Piledriver Processor. The product will now be released in retail likely for a much better price and with liquid cooling.

NZXT announced the Kraken X41 and Kraken X61 liquid coolers, successors to the older X40 and X60 liquid coolers. They carry 140 mm and 280 mm water coolers, respectively. Both the units are built using Asetek's new Gen. 4.5 design which brings support for a variable pump speed. While many pumps can be slowed down through undervolting them, these pumps now officially support it through the software. The pumps can spin at speeds of around 3600 RPM when running at 100 percent.

Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:MU), one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced an ongoing collaboration with Intel to deliver an on-package memory solution for Intel's next-generation Xeon Phi processor, codenamed Knights Landing. The memory solution is the result of a long-term effort between the two companies to break down the memory wall, leveraging the fundamental DRAM and stacking technologies also found in Micron's Hybrid Memory Cube products.

Philips announces two new PowerSensor displays that use intuitive human sensor technology to detect user presence and automatically reduce monitor brightness when users step away, reducing energy consumption by up to 80 percent while prolonging the life of the monitor. The eco-friendly 24- and 27-inch displays utilize the LCD backlight for better dimming control and offer superior color reproduction. 

AMD today launched the AMD FirePro W8100 professional graphics card, enabling new levels of workstation performance delivered by the company's second generation Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture. With nearly 38 times the performance of the closest competing product based on double precision testing, and powered by OpenCL, the AMD FirePro W8100 is designed for 4K CAD (Computing Aided Design) and Media and Entertainment (M&E) workflows, engineering analysis and supercomputing applications. 

Just like Galaxy, KFA2 has now launched their GeForce GTX 780 HOF (Hall of Fame) card in a 6 GB model. The product comes with a white PCB, has a custom 10 phase VRM and uses ELPIDA memory chips.

Avago Technologies Limited and PLX Technology, Inc. today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Avago will acquire PLX, a leader in PCI Express silicon and software connectivity solutions, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $309 million, or $293 million net of cash and debt acquired. 

NVIDIA today announced that multiple server vendors are leveraging the performance of NVIDIA GPU accelerators to launch the world's first 64-bit ARM development systems for high performance computing (HPC). Basically NVIDIA announces here that their Tesla products will be adding ARM64 host compatibility. This enables Nvidia to use Tesla in ARM64 based systems.

Russia has let it be known that it will be replacing Intel and AMD processors in government operated computers and replacing them with home-grown Baikal computer chips. The first products will be Baikal M and M/S chips, designed on the basis of 64-bit nucleus Cortex A-57 made by UK company ARM, with frequency of 2 gigahertz for personal computers and micro servers. 

Windows 8.1 Update 2 is getting close to a release and may hit the RTM (release-to-manufacturing) phase in July already, so Microsoft could launch it in August or September. The new update will bring some new desktop enhancements but, and this is the really bad news, it will not reintroduce the Start Menu.

ASRock launches the Z97 Anniversary, a new line of motherboards specifically marketed for Intel's new Pentium 20th Anniversary Edition processor. ASRock Inc. unveils Z97 Anniversary (ATX) and Z97M Anniversary (Micro ATX) correspondingly. We just received this processor for a nice review btw.
