How information about upcoming products can hurt NVIDIA?

Why do they have to give their computer products names which are so f****ing pretentious? Why can they not just call their products "Product #123ABC"? I really do despise this kinda thing, there is not really any need for it at all and is the sort of overintellectualism that should be beyond anyone above the age of 5. You do not make a piece of silicon more interesting because of what you call it, just as; you do not make yourself seem more important because your birthday party had a f****ing clown!

Change your username to something like "Clown#00000001" then πŸ˜€, or better change your real name too

LOL Misplaced illogical comebacks are always a delight to read, but let us not fall into reductio ad absurdum and false equivocation. They ARE being pretentious with those product names. I can't wait to see them name a chipset 'Fonzie' after the owners pretence of wearing leather Jackets to look 'cool', even though Fonzie was a joke, in that he thought he was cool, but everyone else did not and the audience certainly did not. Fonzie was a loser who lived as a lodger with a family who had an underage teen-age daughter who he used to hit on and flirt with. And yet, the owner of nvidia thinks he can wear a leather jacket and be 'cool' ? c'mon...

Waiting for NVIDIA to encrypt their data and forcing them to find a 3080 at MSRP to pay it off...

Time to send in Agent47 and make it look like an accident

Ugh, okay? Still I think naming architectures after mathematicians are cool, the people who contributed to the advance of mankind should be remembered, luckily Nvidia forgot about "Edison" πŸ˜€

@Loobyluggs if I say ... Jeez the abcd042 was a hot mess .. and abhd044 was decent very efficient but left behind fast .. you will struggle to figure out for witch series I am talking about , especially if there are 20 -40-50...100 more of these ! If you replace the first with Fermi and the second name with Kepler you know exactly what I am talking about! It is just easier to market a named product too πŸ˜›

I somehow don't see Nvidia willingly making their drivers open source, or follow any of the demands of the hackers in that regard. So I guess, magic is going to happen soon? Because, imagine all the leaks, I'm really sure we gamers will live happily ever after! /s

I keep on saying the same thing over and over, and the world needs to listen ban cryptocurrency worldwide

Espionage724:

Gamers aren't the ones demanding driver unlocks. Hash rates directly affect profits and are a great motivator πŸ˜› I'm all for this and can't wait for Friday to see what happens. I don't expect nouveau to be able to use anything useful from such a leak, but perhaps people can fork it and do whatever they want. Only thing I'm interested in for the most part is a LHR unlock.
the issue here is that even if this code is released, is not opensource. Any product derived from this code, even if it cures cancer, would be still illegal. This is not how opensource work and developers shouldn't use this informations retrieved in such way.

Chinese would have no problem copy&paste those codes to be used on their homemade GPU

NVidia can use AI to help find other solutions for this, Problem is time and getting enough information into the AI. They must have templates ready to roll they can start with, but it would still be a hell of a task. They have the tech, expertise and money and being a serious problem it will help establish future business ...

So a boatload of new opensource drivers appear pushing the cards harder and harder. If you were NVIDIA, woiuld you ever again be willing to RTM a card under this pressure ?

I wonder how this will play out. Nvidia can't just simply open-source so many things so easily. When AMD committed to open-source, it took them several years to release something due to legal issues. If Nvidia does do this though, they will see a huge increase in Linux sales.

We do not need some noob in a leather jacket to remind us of mathematicians...

So, call the first product Alpha1 and the second product Alpha2 and keep going until you run out of numbers after the word 'Alpha'. That was easy.

I think you overvalued yourself, may I know what have you contributed to society?

Obviously the hackers are miners... who wants more mining performance. I hope nvidia doesnt bend to their will, and instead hammers down on miners, as they should have from the start.
