Except Vulkan isn't concerned with WDDM, it works all the way back to Win XP.
It is true but if you want DX 12 and Vulkan at the same time ........

Vulkan support, like OpenGL support, is provided as ICDs (Installable Client Driver(s)). Of course then the hardware driver has to present, at least on windowed mode (and Windows 10) to WDDM (more specifically to DWM). On Vulkan you should have most (all?) implemented on a user mode driver.

Pretty nice name. I imagine they thought of the 'Vulcan mind meld' where you 'become one with the game for true immersion'. Anyone know if this is just my vivid imagination of if there is some truth behind it? Would be nice not to have to install spyware 10.

This is not from me , so i just copy it: With DirectX12 it seems to be more complicated anyway. There are so many FeatureLevels and only Maxwell 2 seems to have full support. With Vulkan 1.0 the base requirement in terms of hardware features was OpenGL ES 3.1 which is a subset of OpenGL 4.3, which is supported on all Fermi and newer cards. Vulkan support to Fermi support was promised was at SIGGRAPH last August so.

It's only a matter of time before we have both DirectX 12 and Vulkan on Fermi.

Well, i try to get more info about the current state of the support progress. Even on the dev forum. I am not alone in this matter.

Yeah and when the vulkan erupts the game goes into "has stopped working" mode. 😯c:

When they say full support do they mean like their directx 12 support where its mostly supported and the rest is software or limited resources?

NVIDIA, "We’re proud to have played a leadership role in creating Vulkan." LMAO, last time I checked Vulkan means volcano and implies it is based on AMD's Mantle 1.0. Here's AMD's elaboration on Vulkan. https://youtu.be/qZLzz3OOl3A

Well technically the GPUs came out before DX12 spec was finalized(IIRC) so by that definition no GPU has 'full support' but a lot of things were decided and others can be emulated and work fine so we'll just have to wait and see. And Vulkan has feature levels too.

Why are you comparing full support with base requirements? Base requirements for DX12 is an FL11_0 GPU which is actually quite a bit older than OpenGL ES 3.1 -- five years older to be exact. It's also not true that only Maxwell 2 has "full support" in both that Maxwell 2 doesn't have full support (there are features above FL12_1 which Maxwell 2 doesn't support) and that it's not the only GPU arch supporting FL12_1 (Skylake's iGPU support it as well.)
When they say full support do they mean like their directx 12 support where its mostly supported and the rest is software or limited resources?
Huh? What's "rest", who're "they" and what are you talking about?

You should do another check - chances are you'll notice that Mantle never ran on any h/w but a couple of AMD's GPUs. Thus NV did actually have a leading role here as they needed to make Mantle into Vulkan to be able to support it. The changes are rather extensive.

hope more better than MS DirectX:)
