of course they are these can be sourced with a cost as low as $0.75 each with a bulk order....and they will need them for next gen

I'm not sure who would spend the money for a 3090 Ti and find an adapter like this acceptable. Might as well just not include it.

sounds about right 😀

yes to the above, but first they have to source a PSU... or wait for one afaik, the only ones with a single cable are 450 watts (of course more than enough), platinum, and cost a bit (even tho' this bunch ain't afraid of spending) and again afaik, there are only a handful of models with limited availability. i dare suppose most 3090ti owners (to be) already have a leet PSU and may be wary or just want more choices like official atx 3.0

something looks wrong with that adapter, it's like a ferrari with a plush steering wheel cover

If someone already has a new best of the best thousand bucks PSU, albeit one without the new standard cable, it seems to me they could use the adapter instead of going through the hassle of looking for a new PSU. They might also just use the adapter while waiting for a new cable to arrive from the PSU manufacturer (or a third party source), which is also a possibility, I suppose.

I hope those pins can handle the watts.

I don't know why you guys B*tch about this stuff..You likely never see one. Plus, are you dropping the coin to buy it? NO! Who cares! You should be praising them for trying to push the envelope, no matter the power consumption or anything else. Good job Nvidia.. Having said that, where are the F'ing 3070's and 80's for sale at MSRP prices? 🙄

Are they pushing the envelope, when the performance difference is mostly just a factory overclock on perfect 3090 chips, that was too good to sell as a cheap normal 3090? The cost of them is also for the super elite and a short run til 4080 arrives, so the envelope pushing makes so little difference.

Yeah, that looks like an adapter for a €3500 GPU alright.

So 525w just like from normal 3x PCI-E 8pin cables + 75w from PCI-E bus, kinda pointless.. But I guess they're making preparations for the future GPU's :P

Probably 90% of the idiots that would purchase one would see no problem with it.

Thank you Nvidia for an overpriced overclocked to oblivion 3090 to make sure you keep the performance crown before the Radeon refresh drops in! Happy now? :P

I hope AMD doesn't go the same way, sure I'm expecting RDNA3 to push the envelope as well, but not to such a ridiculous power requirement. Still, it'd be interesting to see power and performance of both nVidia and AMD next iteration of cards. Been reading that the RX 7700 XT would soon be tested and that it's expected to outperform my RX 6900 XT.

I would expect at least a Gold standard 1000 watt power supply to be bundled in with cards, since the price hasn't dropped to retail yet.

I really really really hope AIB's will continue to use standard pcie power plugs, rather than nvidia's stupid 12 pin, just like they did with the rest of the 3000 series.

the whole point is that you wouldn't need the grill, you just put your meal on the GPU and it gets cooked very fast and with all the juices!
