Hmm, Looks we you are gonna have to pick wisely on what we are going to plug in it. No problem then if awake. 😉

For inexpensive... i mean less expensive Ryzen 3D 🙂 this chipset seem to be good enough if the VRM are good build (like in the Asrock A320 with 11vrm)

Seems like these 'A" boards are a kind of rework around to help AMD sell cpus.

It is scalled down much for my liking you'd just be better getting a b650.

kind of a trade-off with pcie 3.0 being far less expensive, but with DDR5 being variable. for a gaming rig pcie 3.0 is all you need and larger volumes are near half the price of the pcie 4.0 high speed m.2's where i'm at DDR5 (non rgb) is a $15-$20 increase over DDR4 for 32Gb @ ideal Ryzen freq (DDR4 4000, DDR5 6000). to me, other than the lack of sex appeal in the board design this is a decent trade-off for spending more money on the GPU which is kind of a necessity nowadays. this board would still kick-ass with a 7900xt or 4080

An A620 mini-ITX board with one of the new APUS 7000 desktops would be perfect for me to work with a computer that doesn't consume much.

When they mean that has a modest power supply, they refer for the 16c variants of ryzen or even the 8 core will struggle?

Good top chipset boards used to be less than a 100 bucks not long ago.

As someone who wants to upgrade my ITX build, that won't really be a problem for me personally. I don't give a crap about USB 3.2 gen 2, I'm totally fine with a PCIe 3.0 M.2 drive (I'm actually fine with SATA for the most part), and I intend to undervolt rather than overclock, and most of such boards don't have room to fit anything other than a single x16 slot and M.2 slot anyway. So long as I can undervolt and use SAM, I'm fine with paying ~$100.

I find it interesting that they made AM5 work with "AM4 chipsets". Good idea though since it greatly improves adaption and sales, like @Embra said

If indeed they use 8 phase..... The boards will have 0 issues running 120 watts ~150 watts CPUs. So an x variant with out insane pbo would be fine! But I really bet they will use 4 phases so yeah non x chips are advised.
