Yup! I followed it via neofag when I read that big soda got banned. What a day!
It was a safe space for the rest of us as they segregated themselves into it lol. I don't want that place to die :P Their sjw userbase is the reason why this meltdown is happening. Mere allegations taking it down. That idiot's Spain incident doesn't help him at all but still.
Whatever the replacement for them will be, it will never be as prominent as neogaf was even in its low points. Last I heard they were on discord planning a new site.

So many devs and even a MS exec are celebrating this. What a time to be alive.
Hopefully this will pav the way for devs to go back to making games for gamers instead of these social justice extremists.

It's not a tactic exclusive to gaf.
It's gained a surprising amount of coverage. Destructoid, polygon, gameinformer, usagamer, rollingstone, and many more. I'm amazed at how quickly it all happened. They're moving to giantbomb and a place called waypoint afaik.

Waypoint and Giantbomb for now. Some guy (sorry for assuming gender) called Cerium with old mods is supposed to be starting a new forum. It's over for that community though. They'll never have Neogaf's name recognition. All their news in recent years was from twitter and reddit so there's no point for anyone who actually played games.
What's wrong with yt? I use a comment blocker and play videos from people I don't normally like to watch in a private window so my suggestions aren't messed up. Keeps it clean enough for me this way.

Not sure how I feel about this. While I was never a member of NeoGaf, and would never ever be due to the toxic climate, I was a longtime reader and lurker of that forum. Why? Because there was no better forum that had such a concentration of people that had the pulse of the gaming industry on the tips of their fingers. For getting insider news and info on both current and upcoming games, it was really quite marvelous. I mean, the sheer amount of hardcore gamers there and the website traffic is staggering; way more than any other gaming forums I've ever seen.
But, the community was very toxic, in the sense that contrary thoughts and opinions to the status quo were often punished or severely frowned upon, usually in the name of liberalism, social justice and feminism. Even
the mods to me seemed to be overwhelmingly, and absurdly strict to anyone that challenged the ultra liberal views that were so prevalent on the forums.
So like I said, I wasn't a member and would never be. But, NeoGaf was awesome as an instrument for getting the latest rumors and news in the gaming industry in a single package.
This entire debacle seems like a big dose of Karma though. You reap what you sow. 😀

Never was on neogaf, only heard bad things about it, so don't really feel either way that it's going to close tbh.
Only read about that tragedy with the dolphin emu dev's suicide apparently subsided by some people on a messege board... that was neogaf, wasn't it?
And thanks Carfax for the concentrated read for those like me who don't follow some forum's happenings and (to me) overseas politics on a daily basis.

They're coming up with a new site ... Reset Era. Check out the hashtag #resetera on twitter, they're getting roasted 😀 They're also carrying forward the banned user list and the old mod team. Dead on arrival, if there ever was a doa forum. Waypoint seems to have lost steam with the neogaf refugees as they have ridiculous rules like no sales threads or whatever. There's also a site called slaent.com where their black culture thread crowd have migrated, the same people responsible for disrupting innumerable threads. OpenCritic is also trying out a gaf replica forum because neogaf was responsible for around 5% of its traffic. Many of the niche sub communities are doing ok on discord and probably won't return either.
NeoGAF doesn't have to be your audience, NeoGAF is over 😀 😀 😀

Oh Lord, how did he get there? I bet he broke into her apartment. Oh my lord, more sexual harassment! In reality i can bet he was there for a "reason" due to her "invite". Smt didn't go as expected, woman uses a classic nowaday card of "i was harassed". Otherwise why the HECK, would you invite a "friend" (yeah right) into your house and then go to shower.
