Smoofbrane proof!

Don't they already have different plugs? I suppose floppy drive connector can be mistaken for pci express conector..

If you don't know what end a plug/socket goes then i'd leave the PC building to an expert...

I think you've misunderstood the function of the colour coding here. It's not to help identify which plug goes into which slot. It's to help visibly identify if the plug is fully inserted. If you can still see exposed yellow, this shows the plug is not fully inserted.

My bad. Apologies. I didn't look at the article.

I thought they introduced this while ago?

Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. 😉

Here's hoping they will release an L shaped version towards the GPU.

You don't know what people can do... By own experience: it's totaly unbelievable and not logical.

thats neat, I like it, such an easy but 100% foolproof fix

It is a good idea in theory, but considering some people ostensibly got a click when plugging the cord in and still got charred cables gets me to question if this is enough. Should such a cable burn while there's no evidence of yellow showing up, that would be bad, of course assuming it was used within spec.

Urm i don't think people have grasped as to the reason why it's colour coded and that's to make sure the cables are secure with no colour showing meaning it's secure, both at the PSU and the GPU this is to prevent resistance and thus the main cause of fires with PCIe-5 and fires. It's not there so people don't plug in a connector that physically can't fit...

A random yellow color that as far you connect it properly will never show and helps minimize the loose connections.... Actually.....well done msi !

The people who designed the 12VHPWR connector should read this. Seriously. Who designs a connector where knowing if it's been plugged in correctly or not requires either superhuman hearing, or an an anechoic chamber. I thought people were exaggerating, but when I finally had to use 12VHPWR myself, I immediately knew they were not.

Both the NVIDIA Adapter as well as the Seasonic cable have an audible click on my PNY card. There are most likely too many different brands of connectors out there, so quality varies.

My NVidia connector didn’t have a click. Even tried several times. Nothing. since I haven’t burnt the house down yet, I assume it’s fine, but I agree, horrible design, what were they thinking.

If you noise insulate your room and put your ear directly on top of it, you will hear the faintest excuse of a "click" you've ever heard. I believe a needle falling to the ground on the other side of town might be louder :P
