It's a well-known fact that GTA V generates significant revenue for Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar and 2K Games. At the end of May, it was revealed that the game has surpassed 145 million c... More than 150 million copies of GTA V have been sold

Does that matter? It's not like its a massive cost to retool the game for a different system.

sure it does, with out it would never sold that much like many other games that have resold/released accross countless system and generations

Isn't that the point? Lol.. The entire point of the article is that they can maintain the same game for a few generations at minimal cost and gain massive revenue - delaying the release of a new one.

Cannot disagree with the numbers, but what i can detest against, is the whole in game purchase experience which for me has absolutely ruined the franchise. Yes alot will disagree but for me, the early days of GTA online without the massive PTP (pay to play) contect was the best times.... GTA San Andreas was hands down the best GTA for me! Haven't played GTA in nearly two years.....

Calculating average cost of $20 USD per copy its around $3,000,000,000 (3 billion USD) in game sales alone. (I used $20 USD as the cost as in some regions it costs less than others, and there has been lots and lots of 50% off sales since it launched as well) Wikipedia estimates $6,000,000,000 (6 billion USD) in total revenue. If the wiki numbers are accurate, i would say they probably made less in game sales than my estimate, as I am fairly sure that more than 50% of their revenue is from microtransactions, i could be wrong though.

Wow, thanks!.....$6,000,000,000 (6 billion USD) in total revenue! I remember Hilbert (review) saying even though it was late to PC it was a well-polished game when they release it on PC. Like it or not Rockstar is that good....Get some!...ubisoft, EA Sports, Capcom, exc,exc

Good for them I guess. They've found a cash cow. When you do , milk it dry I suppose. what people continue to see in this to keep buying so many copies I don't know lol. I haven't played a GTA game since Vice City was new I think. Outside of playing through the SP missions I don't see the appeal. But clearly many do.

The title should say: More than 150 million copies of GTA V have been sold...to liberals.

^ I can't even comprehend what that's supposed to say or mean.

Same here, I had to google what the word liberals meant.. some sort of political thing from the looks of it.

The crazy thing is that GTA 5 has a more believable world than Cyberpunk, the npc's just seem more real and apart of the world, and the cars drive and feel better.

Well, given it's their 5th game doing that, let alone other open world games R* has made, I would expect them to know what their doing. CDPR on the other hand did give it their first try. Maybe we'll see CP2082 at some point, so we can compare 5th game against 5th game 😀

Technically it's not their first video game but I get what you mean, I do like cyberpunk but I'm not blind, I can see the problems... I actually stopped playing after leaving the city for the first time and seeing how poorly the game run out in the barren wasteland, it really does need a lot of work.
