As much as I hate to say it, this franchise really needs to die. I understand they're making a load of money on a whole new generation of gamers, but guys like me in their 40's are burned out on this.

I concur with you guys. I stopped playing COD about 15 years ago, but Battlefield is just the same, only "not as good" (and I was a die hard BF fan).
Both franchises no longer live off "us", but of those following, younger players and generations. Particularly those who grew up with buying battle passes and grew up to learn that microtransactions to look pretty in games is normal. Those are keeping COD afloat. Sadly, not us gamers who have seen better days of the franchise.
COD2 was excellent, and the very first Modern Warfare set a new standard.

The campaign is a continuation of MW2 (2022)'s story and the MP maps are remakes from MW2 (2009). Also included is WZ3 & a new zombies mode.

Maybe my memory is liying to me, but i remember 2009 MW2 graphics as good as these.. after 14 years i expec graphics to be improved, i only play campaigns so i do not have any hope on this script to be that good.

I've bought all the COD games (other than some BO ones) but I'm boycotting COD on principle based on something that had happened recently. No more!

I'm still happily killing in MW2 MP, have pre ordered MW3 (when it was first announced), and I very liked the way the beta played.
Forza Motorsport and COD are the only games I play these days, loved all the old Battlefields but never really got into 2042 despite trying it again recently

People have been saying this for ages. Almost as long as CoD has been around.
It's not my cup of tea anymore as I hate all these weird skins and stuff, the only issue is the total lack of alternatives. So I bought this "full-priced DLC" just like any other CoD ever since the second iteration (don't ask me why I don't have the 1st).
Play this like once a week, with friends, it's like our Poker or football night. Has been for 20 years now.

Isn't MW2 (2022) a remake of MW2 (2009)? In that case the answer to @mbk1969 is that this is a remake that's a continuation of a remake?
I think that we live in silly times with all strange names for the sake of remakes.
For example we apparently have two Lords of the Fallen now - makes complete sense.

Not a remake, both had completely different campaigns. They did that in MW2 "remastered" 😀
