Surely they will need EU approval for this deal, especially this being the largest concentration this market has ever seen. Zenimax was one thing, this is a completely different ball park. This will get a lot of attention from voters.

I'm just going to say just this, and for someone that is working as a partner of Microsoft (SAM), you can love or hate MS, but I will greatly respect their business model, so I'm not surprised of this.

Horus-Anhur:

Activision-Blizzard had a market cap of 50.41 Billion US$. MS paid 20 Billion extra for the company. I bet Kotick is getting a big bonus from this deal.
That's the worse about it. Lot of people wanted Kotick to resign and instead of doing so he sells the company for a big bonus eFlop style with Nokia. It shows what kind of ******* he is.

And he continues to be the CEO of the company.
Microsoft said in its announcement that Bobby Kotick would remain as Activision’s CEO following the deal, and report to Microsoft gaming chief Phil Spencer.

It's good that MS finally realized games come first, hardware comes second, but 70 billion dollars for Activation/Blizzard? I really hope they know what they are doing because that is a hell of investment that might never pay for itself...
Dude this includes; WOW Overwatch Hearthstone Starcraft Diablo Crash Bandicoot Spyro Tony Hawk Guitar Hero COD Warzone and Candy Crush These are massive titles, many of which have multi billion dollar sales. These IP's could even be licensed out for merchandise and other projects such as TV shows, or movies. They could even be given to different studios to work on. Its now all up the MS. MS want to become the Netflix of gaming. Gamepass is just the start and in a decade or so Gamepass will become a cloud service and it software will be preinstalled on to phones, smart TV's, laptops, tablets, and even possibly on their competitors systems (PS5 or PS6 and Nintendo systems).

MS again uses the infinite cash cheat. The Game industry (it is not perfect at all) as we know is going to end (in a bad way). I don't believe Sony can resist following MS's trend. I just wonder if Nintendo would.

Dude, most of their IPs are currently on ice. There are only few cash-cows among them. To put this into perspective, Disney acquired LucasArts/LucasFilm for 4.04 billion. We might discuss the monetization potential of each of those IPs, but that is just guessing. Nobody can say at this point, if they'll ever have 70 billion of clean profit, even combined... especially now when Blizzard is struggling to release anything at least mildly successful.
You are missing the point. This is about gamepass subscriptions and increasing MS's footprint in gaming. The IP's external monetisation is just a bonus for MS. With new leadership those struggling IP's can have a new breathe of life. And I bet Disney has already made their money back and then some on Star Wars.

Maybe we'll get a StarCraft 3 or they'll put some more love into SC2. Or maybe they'll fix all the shit they broke in Warcraft 3 with reforge. Btw what ever happened to Overwatch 2?

LOL Has someone told them we are unable to equip our "Gaming PC" with graphic cards. May someone call them up and tell them we would like to participate, but heck, no GPU far & wide !

Even after the acquisition they are only the third biggest company in gaming by revenue (behind Sony and Tencent), I don't think there is a major monopoly concern yet.

Putting this into perspective. Say every game Activision has ends up on Gamepass. Battle.net has 26 million active users. Gamepass already has 25 million active users. 25 million x 14.99 (saying everyone has the Ultimate pass.... you know that because of this purchase that base subscription price is going up) = $374,750,000 per month = $4,497,000,000 per year ALREADY 26 million extra users is another $389,740,000 per month or an extra $4,676,880,000 per year (saying that every user subscribes to gamepass, this is just looking at perfect scenario). They just POTENTIALLY more than doubled their yearly subscription revenue to $9,173,880,000 PER YEAR!!!!! Nearly $10 BILLION A YEAR!! Now give the fact that Gamepass is only available on Xbox consoles and PC, now add that app to every smart TV, tablet, phone, other consoles etc, etc and this number only goes one way. This is why they paid so much.

So in 6 years they will start to see a return. I'm not sure if that's good or bad business.
