Come next year I plan a rebuild using next gen Haswell and dual 800 series Nvidia and it will just get worse in comparison.

sykozis - amen brother! Finally someone who understand how consoles work. Everyone is measuring the console hardware to pc, and that is a big no-no. Take the PS3 for example, with a high PC hardware demanding game like Crysis 2 still runs good on PS3 hardware that is 7 years old, wich has 256mb system ram, and 256 video ram, and for it to run on a pc it needs at least 3gb of system ram and a pretty powerfull and expensive video card wich may have cost almost as much as the whole console

This comparison happens everytime and was why I was pointing out that the last generation of consoles would be "smoked" by 8800gtx's and core2duo's since they were using GeForce 7 era tech. In console terms this gens hardware is pretty strong.

Sigh another fail boy. Your old crappy rig is gonna get ''smoked'' by the One and PS4 not because of the hardware they have but through its OS and optimization's. What most people lack when shouting these useless comments is that they have no knowledge on how important drivers and OS's are. We are going to see graphics and physx on a bigger and better scale then we have on the PC right now. But in the ever changing hardware world the pc will be king of the hill later on but a what costs? For getting the same effects etc on PC you're going to have to buy a high end GFX card for like what ~€350/€400,- Dollar/euro and then buy the rest to make it complete and end up at a round €1000,- and still have dips in your FPS. Whilist on your €400/500,- costing One or PS4 you will have it all and more. (minus keyboard and mouse)

The whole console vs PC is just plain stupid. Many avid gamers will have both an adequate PC and either/both consoles anyway. Personally I would prefer PC simply because I want to make the most of the high investment i have made. But I'll get one of these consoles eventually. The great thing about consoles is the dedicated development towards the specific hardware instead of the wide compatibility of the PC genre though, exactly as sykozis says

£250 is nothing, I have spent much more than that and will continue to spend even more. I spent around that amount on Star Citizen alone. Lets see what console can run Star Citizen then, there isnt any because it aint possible! The reason the majority of consoles owners who say that say it because they cant afford a high end gaming pc. I was thinking of getting a PS4 to shove under the 50 inch 3D TV but tbh i dont think ill bother as 720p and 30fps is going to be like the Ultimate Slideshow after coming from 120hz.:)

It was when I only game 3-4 hours a week. Star Citizen is only using CE3, nothing that consoles can't do now, or in 2015, albeit at a lower res and framerate. 720p is putting me off the consoles though, but they are assuming people would rather better graphics than a higher resolution.

So, 1. They are mis-advertising this thing already by calling that processor a "gargantuan beast". 2. Since when is 28nm "state of the art"? 3. To me it sounds like they are trying to sell you something that isn't fully function while you think you are paying for something fully functional. "so that if one section was inoperable, it doesn’t kill the whole chip". Being able to shut off portions of the chip is stupid too. You don't want to shut anything off on an already weak chip...

If it was implemented correctly it could revolutionize basic gaming and was something I was hoping for so very VERY much as controllers do not have enough buttons as it is, being able to add voice commands and gestures to basic games opens up an unbelievable flexibility and could make gaming PROPERLY next generation, if every Xbox is NOT sold with a Kinect 2.0 this is not likely to happen or it will be only half assed support as devs will have to cater for all the people WITHOUT a kinect as a result it's a total waste of time bar stupid gimmick dance games etc. So while I had zero interest in the first kinect, I understood this was far more advanced and as it was included with every single xbox I had so many hopes and dreams about being able to do things I had not even thought of (and what I could think of was pretty bloody good in my mind) I will be beyond devastated if we have to wait another 8 years to game 'NEXT GEN' it's time to move on, we need better more advanced ways to interact - your post is extremely short sighted and your imagination (or lack of) of what could be is what's holding tech back - it's 2013 for fks sake we need to get going by the time we actually see next gen we will all be fkn grey haired and too slow in the head to master holographic interfaces. The most BASIC, BOG STANDARD gaming should be 1080p 60FPS in 2013 this is nothing short of BOG AVERAGE. We gonna have to wait what another 10 years before you can buy a console and hook it up to surround, 3d, or triple monitor setup - and we'll probably still be stuck on 30 FPS for that setup even in 10 years. Consoles are meant to be affordable. If you want high resolution gaming, we have our rigs for that. I only play on consoles because my friends have them and not high end PCs. It's good enough and even i can admit that. For anything else, i've got my rig where i can play 1920x1080 with all the bells and whistles.

Uh... 720p and 1080p are quite literally "high definition". Note this is HIGH definition, not SUPER definition or ULTRA definition. Personally, I feel 720p should be the standard for tablets, 1080p for screens above 16", and any resolutions higher than that would be welcome for screens greater than 32". I'm going to have to agree with Passion Fruit though. Consoles are meant to be affordable. I also don't see how 60FPS is bad (except for maybe 3D TVs). While I agree that the next gen consoles SHOULD try preparing for newer technologies, I don't see them living as long as the current generation. So for now, they're good enough.

I went to PAX in aus this year and i hear some guy behide me say that the wii U is pretty much the same in hardware to the Xboxone or PS4 , lol like WTF.
