No surprise that AMD launches 7nm for business 1st. If they blown those 7nm & Zen 2 improvements out of proportions by factor of 2, it would still be way ahead of intel in terms of power efficiency and performance per core.

So to be clear, it's still looking like Zen 2 will be compatible with AM4 motherboards with a BIOS update?

AM I the only one that when I read Papermaster I keep thinking a stack of papers or a paper weight object? Sorry for being random. Anyway on a serious not AMD looks to be a long term product in my household for future builds.

Hmm, looks like the chiplet rumors were true. Zen 2 will feature a 14nm I/O die along with 7nm CPU chiplets (at least for EPYC).

Am I reading this correctly??? 25% IPC gain and half the power at the same perf??? Well this is obviously a best case scenario. Still this is very impressive gains and I think with this they will be on par, if not better than current Intel parts. We can just hold thumbs for higher clocks

I'm sure that the last slide just before lunch/tea break was announced, had three GPU's side by side. Something about 14 TFLOPs mid-range GPU. Anyone has that slide?

It's a workstation GPU. GV100 has 14.8 FP32 TFLOPS by comparison but it's also twice the size.

"It was briefly mentioned that a boost of performance by 25 percent IPC is expected, compared to Zen+."
That's way more than i expected

And connectivity on site is lost. I had backup
Not IPC. Performance. So it is at best per core improvement (partly IPC, partly clock). And it is for EPYC. So take lowest clock of EPYC when it is under full load (all cores).

How many people can fit into intel's safety net before it breaks and everyone falls down 22 floors? (2X cores / 4X FP performance per socket, PCIe 4.0)

And that's what intel gets for daring to put AMD into comparison in official marketing materials and disable SMT đŸ˜€

This is fun. Intel just announced an 48 core 96 thread CPU and now AMD is talking about a 64 core 128 thread CPU.
What will the next core count be ?

Well they did go with chiplets isn't that damn cool. So anyone think we will see a single CCX / chiplet design in the Ryzen lineup? Seems doable now the IO / memory is disconnected from the CCX / chiplet. I suspect they would pick up some additional IPC improvements removing that inter CCX communication. All good news today other than where is Navi đŸ™‚

I am So Happy Now!!!!
Think about it, first ThreadRipper adopters with 1950X doubled the performance 1 Year later with 2990WX and next year they gonna Double the performance again with 64C! LOL!!!!!
Also- did anyone spot the Key part of the MCM desing in the presentation? PaperMaster told that to produce monolithic 32C CPU would cost AMD X1.7 the cost vs MCM design with 4X8C, Intel is loosing big money to compete against AMD's MCM design!
