How does trickery like DLSS work with bandwidth? Maybe they are just banking on every mid range card user running with scaling anyway.
DLSS reduces a little bit of textures size and required bandwith, you're rendering the game at lower resolution (Quality = 67% res), so that helps always.

Oh boy can't wait to upgrade my from my 1060 with 8GB to a card in 2023 with 8 GB. 😡 I want an upgrade at some point...
Let's see the performance as ultimately that's the most important thing rather than specifications.

It honestly just feels like they are nerfing cards on purpose and selling them for double the price.
They are limiting the cards performance by memory and bandwidth They weren't happy with 1080ti/2080ti users not upgrading to the next gen so they opted for builtin obsolescence

This basically^^ Nvidia is "tired" of releasing great cards that last a (very) long time, so now they have decided to cripple the cards to make sure people are "forced" to upgrade sooner or buy a more expensive part if they don`t want to nerfed to death...

so price fixing and purposely castrating gpu to force one to buy there super over price stuff. they mentality will only work for so long before it back fires. Force the price of 1 these cards I could get CPU/MB/RAM for 2 PC rebuilds and perupose rest parts from another pc, which , make more sense from price stand point

The only card I'm looking at is the 3080ti 12GB with buying used I've seen them for $500 & Under. Wanted a 3090ti 24GB but the used price doubles $1,000 & up. So I'll probably get the 3080ti and wait a little longer for the price to drop some more. I've even seen used 3080ti with EK water block on already for $500 that would be the one to get if I can find one when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

It's kind of funny when I bought my 3080 I was a little annoyed about the value but in hindsight it might actually be one of the best value GPU purchases I've made.

This style of crippling has been a thing with Nvidia since forever. The entire Kepler launch (600 series) was essentially crippled this way.

8GB of GDDR, this card will be a dead man walkin'

3080 is the most popular 700usd GPU ever released, according to Steam Hardware Survey 🙄

I think nGreedia realized their mistake from their GTX 1080 Ti experience, they'd prolly realized that that card lasted way too long for their liking (and profit line) with its whopping 11GB VRAM (then). I've long acknowledged that nGreedia has some great cards, but have always crippled their longevity with limited VRAM.

1060 never had 8GB....192 bus. same as 3060.

An nVidia card with a TDP low enough to cope with a dual slot cooler? :O

It'd help to care about the performance rather then the amount of memory it has, then maybe you'd have an upgrade path. Or, you can just continue to care about the amount of memory it has, i'll be sure to modify a GT 1030 with 16GB of ram, i'm sure it'd be a great upgrade from your 1060

Yeah nvidia should just make 4080 with 8gb. Enjoying that ultra textures+ raytracing at 4k without a hitch at even lower cost.

I would gladly take 12GB 4080Ti (AD102 chip) at 1200usd over 16GB 4080 anytime though 😀

GPU performance goes in hand with video memory, the card should have enough processing power and video memory for its performance range A mid range card should be able to play new gen games at 1440 4060ti is meant to be mid range but 8GB will hamper its performance in new gen games The 3070ti 8GB and 3080 10GB are prime examples of cards running out of video memory before processing power

Well Nvidia site list a 4060 and 4050, but not ti as of yet
