I have a good feeling for that one.

Sarlak is gonna be a beast for mini ITX builds. 40CUs with 16 cores.... That thing is going to rip!

Imagine if they could pair that beast with GDDR6 somehow, it would destroy the consoles.

I wonder how far that monolith 8 core will OC? Even with Zen 4 IPC it would be a monster at 6 GHZ.

Maybe we could finally get decent APUs? 16 core is overkill, how about 8 core 40CU with 3D cache: that would be a beast!

I cant wait to be able to play games with only igpu, with high setting and acceptable framerates. Im 100% willing to ditch my power hungry tower pc to a small, powerful, and energy efficient APU. So Im really cheering on APUs development.

imho the idea is to broaden the market for these as wide as possible to "rip the heart out" of Intel mobile, esp. in productivity. it's a misnomer to call these P or E cores as the "smaller" core is just as powerful as an Intel P core as evidenced in Epyc cpus. the Strix Point APU will be just as powerful as a desktop Zen 4 Ryzen 7 (non X) at roughly half the power. pair this with a high refresh 1080p screen and this will be budget gaming heaven

In one hand: nice, go for it; nothing would be better than an rx580 performing APU. on the other hand: this might lead to very powerful APUs that displace the already non existent "entry" and mid-low range GPUs, pushing us to either have those tiers exclusively in the shape of consoles - handhelds and then just the stupidly so called "enthusiast" and "ultra-enthusiast" class in desktop. Imagine 6600 performance on igpu, why would they even bother launch dGPU for desktop for that bracket?, they would rather have an extremely customizable APU (which they can already deliver, I guess, thanks to their chiplet design advantages) and use the most powerful ones for consoles, the middle ground for handhelds and in-between for desktop or something like that... so yeah, liking the progress but as always they find ways to screw the customers. Let's see where this take us to, hopefully a better gaming scenario in the future and not more stagnation and premeditated castrated gpus skus.

It is bound to happen imo.

Pretty easy why a 6600 would still exist vs the apu. Easy to upgrade a gpu, not apu without a new cpu.

Lol i can one up you! 3dvcache and gddr6! I have a feeling Sony is already on to us for the next console.
If you mean PS6 think again, the PS5 is just about to turn 3. I think they are going to do what they always do and release a PS5 Slim. Same performance, smaller chasis, 1 or 2TB NVME, maybe no disk drive. They can drop the price of the current original model to get rid of inventory and then sell the newer smaller console for the same price that the original console retailed for. Basically a price reset. The slim should be cheaper to manufacture, with a die shrink, smaller heatsink needed, less powerful fan needed. They could even have two skus a 1TB and a 2TB model and if there is no disk drive thats another cost saving too. These rumours about a new more powerful PS5 I think are bogus and Sony will just do the same thing they have always done with a slim model.

maybe no disk drive
That part is a bit depressing, games going with download only and only license based is kind of sad. The last PlayStation with a form of physical media will be the last PlayStation I'll own. Might as well just go full steam ahead with my expensive pc once i can't own the physical version of those games anyways. I'm already seeing the dying off of used games on PS5 when visiting GameStop, the end is near.

I know, even though all my games are digital on PC ever since around 2012 I stopped buying physical media and I haven't owned a console since the PS3. Its just a fact, physical media will eventually be gone forever 🙁

That probably is just the new consoles or the refresh for it.

The problem is when some games are delisted and you cannot buy them anymore digitaly. The only solution is trying to find physical media again, thats what I did this year with an Xbox One X and Forza Horizon 1 copy.

Yea I know, this is why sites like Myabandonware exist. The thing is, they should not NEED too exist.

And what will you do when most games need day one patches(no in the disc), piracy is the only solution

The quirks of modern gaming, games barely working at launch. In that cases yes, piracy, we dont have another solution. Even console games will not go forever, consoles will break, discs will scratch, and the remaining physical media wil desappear. Emulatores will save the day.
