This is an interesting decision on Google's platform when other app stores are readily available, compared to iOS and the previous court decision. I will try and read the rationale for this.

This would be called an epic win then 😛 (yeah bad i know, just couldnt resist)

On other hand why is google not allowing Epic (despite i also don't like them) when they are allowing store from other brand?
It's a bit not fair, isn't it?

And the punishment for this... A gentle slap on the wrist and a whispered warning for Google to stop abusing their position.
This will teach them!

How did Epic win against Google App store, but lost against IOs App store?
BTW, would Epic open it's Fortnite ecosystem, to have other stores sell content, skins and microtransactions?

So it seems the decision had to do with internal communications that essentially google used sweetheart deals to try and stifle competition for other app stores, which is part of what pushed the case towards a rapid jury decision. However, Apple case was settled by a judge, so again would wait and see what a jury would have thought of that.
No doubt Google will appeal this decision as well.

I think the difference between Google and Apple for this case is Google don't make the phones, so they are a 3rd party on say a Samsung phone. That gives them less rights to control the ecosystem then Apple who make the phone and the OS.

imho, this is all about the jury.
given that phones are "either/or" iOS or Android and that both Apple and Google are anti-competitive (and collude w/ each other), the jury certainly has 1st hand experience. if the Apple case was presented to a jury they would've lost, certainly in California.

Funny ruling considering amazon app store exists on android (doesn't on apple)
