Hmm I'm more interested in broadwell, but DDR4 support on an 8 core haswell is nuts!

It's a nice step forward. At current I doubt I'll upgrade until Skylake, either way I wont be buying another quad core (Even with HT). Unless AMD up their game I'll probably end up on Broadwell-E if Intel stick to their current release format.

This looks very interesting, glad to see Intel are making CPU's with more cores and the DDR4 memory config looks awesome. Though just because Intel is willing to start manufacturing 8 core CPU's does not make them any more relevant than when AMD manufactured 8 core CPU's.
Every time I have read reviews of AMDs 8 core CPU's Intel fanboys have always stated that 8 cores are irrelevant because applications are not currently optimized fully for quad core let alone 8 core CPU's.
Just hoping that those same fan boy's still think that 8 cores are irrelevant and that they are not suddenly the next big thing. (The intel fanboy's I am talking about where not from this website)
Though this looks very promising the path Intel is taking.

Im already benefiting from all Haswell stuff, its mostly by lower threaded apps, so nothing will change there.. 8threads is plenty too.
I bet 8core won't OC much, max 4.5ghz. Well not with 16threads.

Still way to few PCIe lanes. Quad-SLI will be forced to 4x8, because 4x16 isn't possible. Now add PCIe/SATA express and you'll rather need 80 lanes, twice as much as they offer. Lame. Though a dual Xeon setup would just have those 80 lanes.

Well, thankfully they will drive down the prices of the 4930k by then. And there's Broadwell too.
I really wanted a 8c/16t cpu by end of 2014 but that X after the cpu means its a no go for me.. :P

I never owned(minus a brief six-core for testing but not owned) anything over a 4c/8t so I would had love to own a 8c/16t.
But a 6c/12t will do fine. Or a 4c/8t Broadwell will probably do too. But its all speculations as of now(Haswell-E/Broadwell).
And as to why mostly for benchmarks/rendering/editing etc.. Sometimes enough is just not... Enough... 😉

1 don't want another quad -I can completely understand the 5Ghz club quad users in not wanting another.
2 six cores just doesn't sound right but it would be better than nothing, or better than a quad, and like Koniakki I'm disappointed it's only the 'X' getting the 8 core sauce.
can't argue with 2133 ddr4 though. (all on a windows 8 platform)

Quad-channel DDR4 RAM is all I'm interested for the normal line, not "E".
Keep or increase a quad qore's results with even kinda lower voltage and I'm sold.
