Well, the biggest difference is the price. Intel is allergic to reducing prices of older products, so since (for example) the 8700K is basically an immensely overpriced 10600K, what's the point of making 8th gen products that are assuredly going to sell worse? I'm not sure if Intel is still struggling to keep up with stock but if they are, the 8th gen is just a distraction.

I rather like the 8300H in my Dell G3. Way better than the 6300H in my Dell 7559

I don't know your personal computer history but you realize that hasn't been true, historically, even under the most generous interpretation, right? I've had a personal computer since 1987 but I built my first IBM-compatible 2004. At which point the obvious choice of CPU was AMD's Athlon 64 (I got the 3000+) which I subsequently upgraded to the Athlon 64 X2 (the 3800+), simply because they were better than the Intel offerings - at everything. That changed with C2D of course and I reckon most of us know history since that point on. I'm just pointing out that your statement has been literally, verifiably false within the last 15 years already. And it's arguably not true today, unless a) there's no budget constraints at all or b) you're gaming at 1080p with a 2080Ti. Making sweeping, permanent statements regarding an industry that moves as quickly as the hardware industry is ill advised and serves no purpose aside from waxing polemic on online forums.

Haha. Poor guy, I really pity you. There is about 4-8% difference between the rival products ON FHD with a 2080 Ti. This means that in normal circumstances (1440P or 4K gaming with the best GPU or FHD gaming with slower GPU-s), the difference is 0. Plus Zen3 will arrive in some months, and will get another rumoured ~15% IPC gain. That means it will at least equal this difference, or even be a bit better. Poor guy, really. 🙂)))

All I know is that unless Intel pulls some magic trick this year, my next system will be a Ryzen 4900X, after 13 years on Intel builds. So I guess their "gaming advantage", to me, is perilous at best.

Can i reuse this sentence for the next foreseeable future of this bullshit posting on those forums? With little changes it adapts very well to most of those intel/amd and ati/nvidia debates this forum has been polluted with last 2 years.

I mean.. if you really want to be harsh that's arguing on the Internet for you. :P Making generic bold statements with little to back them up. I certainly don't lay claim to that particular sequence of words so by all means, it's not like you need my permission.

It depends. ATM i have an "old" 8600K and Z370 mobo and a "new" 2700X and B450. The 8600K at 5000Mhz outperforms the Ryzen by about 20% in games like ArmA3, Far Cry 5 or TW Warhammer 2. But in most games, at 1440p, they are about the same, as you say +- 4%. It comes down to what you play and if you have a powerful GPU and 144Hz or above monitor. I still have not decided if i will keep the Ryzen 2700x or thei5 8600K or sell them both and get a B550 + Ryzen 3xxx or Z490 and i7 10xxx

Lets be honest here. This old discontinued 8700k can be faster in games than any amd cpu on the market. Yes, difference is small but its there. It will take few more zen generations to get there and thats if intel did nothing.
