This is good news. Maybe the Motherboard manufacturers know something that we don't.

Its all in IMEI - Intel Management Engine Interface, Z97 has few extras the rest is about the same. Z87 needed this IMEI firmware update to be more up to date with Z97 🙂

Nope it should fit with no problems since Z97 is the same socket as z87 and it is in 115x family that Ivy bridge is a part of.

Well there are some really good gems, but its more like 1 out of 15. One guy was able to run @ 5ghz 1.187v, this one did 4.6ghz @ 1.125v.. dunno if 100% stable only wprime multi core test, but no doubt if all were like that then top  http://abload.de/img/ry6u2u8erpkw4.jpg another 5ghz@ 1.25v, 1.35v, while most topped out at max ~4.7ghz @ 1.35v.. with H110 AIO rank coolers. Prime 95 27.9 , 28.x is overheating @ +1.17v. http://abload.de/thumb/1.163ivk16.jpg http://abload.de/thumb/1.173xwk8y.jpg http://abload.de/thumb/5t3jgq.jpg http://abload.de/thumb/fgsdgwkyh.jpg http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f139/oc-prozessoren-intel-sockel-1150-haswell-laberthread-962401-483.html

Pretty good considering it is a 4770k

Got mine on friday (although only had it online sunday evening) Only running it at stock atm but will likely do some overclocking this week sometime. Runs cool at stock anyway :P (As per usual my "luck of changing/messing around with PC things" came back to haunt me, my SSD died in the process and had to replace it >.>) It's my firs ASUS board in a while so, I need to read up on overclocking first I think before I break things...

Above is pic (big) of 4770K........

Yes we got it by now ;p Anyhow some more pics from one user, 4.6 - 4.7ghz ~ 1.23v, anything more and its not in the green zone anymore.. At least in Prime95. [...]
basically 1.35 - 1.4v for 4.9 - 5ghz rock solid then. at least for the 4690k (i hope :P ) mine will only be for gaming, voltage doesn't bother me only temps.

Why not 4790K? imo it would kinda be stupid to get another non HT cpu now and with 2mb less L3, every next-gen game is going min4-8thread.. Well unless you don't have extra $$.. :] As for 5ghz mark, well its still ONE BIG lottery, just like with 4670K & 4770K. Either you get a good voltage sample or not, I saw the same 4790K L336 batch and one got 4.7ghz @ 1.23 another @ 1.36v and anything over 1.36v+ is toasty.. Even in something like 3dmark physics tests, unless you have uber Water cooling. 😀
