It will be around 5600X performance , if so , AMD has tough rock to chug here. Nice to see competition .

AMD still outselling even today. Intel needs to release this asap.

Because platform is widely available and cheap, AMD rips benefits of market flooded by cheap AM4. It wasn't bad strategy after all , now they can sell Zen3/3+ for older mobos for higher margin.

Yeah and zen3+ cpus being available early next year. Also, these 4c/8t is no go for a gaming purpose.

12400 will be very good. It actually game changer becuase it will narrow price difference between platforms . You don't need anything more than i5 12400 for gaming, and 100-150 eur difference you can put in to the mobo , sitll talking DDR4 here , as DDR5 is uber BS right now.

DDR5 will become available and cheaper. It makes no sense to me buidling an Alder lake system and going with ddr4 board just so you can change it again when Raptor lake is released. I made up my mind and waiting for Zen4. I have a feeling it will be Zen1 time all over again. 🙂

DDR5 is song of the future . And does't seem adoption rate will be as fast as DDR4. Not even close.

It depends on how often you rebuild. You're looking at 3+ years before DDR5 becomes mainstream.

I already thought ddr4 adoption was super slow since it didn't really become mainstream till amd finally made some competition with zen 1000 series, but yea I think ddr5 will be at least 1-2 years before it's really seen as mainstream.

DDR5 is marketing bullshit. They jack up the frequency but also the damn latency so in the end you don't get any real performance benefit. I'm sure AMD anticipated the 12400 competing with their 5600x so they will come with 6600x or whatever. What really bothers me about AMD is the HIGH idle power usage. Sure Intel is power hungry at full load but it's way ahead of AMD at idle and most of a cpu's life it will be at idle.

Same logic was used when DDR3 and DDR4 were introduced. With improved batches and speeds, the pros and cons in the end always favored the newer DDR. And so will be the case with DDR5.

Adoption rate for DDR4 was much better. There is no sing of big drops for DDR5 on the horizon. Currently only one platform supports it . Performance gains are none.

Cant compare adoption rates in drastically different situations (pre-covid, no component shortages vs now). Its still new and will be on more platforms as they come on stream. Perf gains are not much different than when DDR4 first arrived vs DDR3. Over time it will improve as better, faster modules come along.
