China filing a patent lawsuit for infringement ?.... Is it just me or this sound funny to you also people ?

Despite being a communist dictatorship, China is the second largest economy in the world. They can't avoid the whole patent system forever. Naturally they would start by defending their own patents against foreign competitors. But then again, in a dictatorship the whole justice system is nothing but a tool for the ruling elite, so nobody can predict the results.

Kaarme you didn't understand what Venix meant, what "own patents" 99.99% of what they make is stolen tech or maybe I should say given by idiotic western companies providing them the necessary blueprints so they can make things "for us"

I don't see how that invalidates what I said in any way. If they are suing Intel for a patent infringement, it means China has a patent system. Whether those patents are valid or not may be irrelevant because the case would be handled by a Chinese court, which is a tool for the Chinese government, not an independent branch of administration like in the Western countries.

It's indeed ironic, and maybe morbidly funny, that China is still officially supposed to be a communism. Communism and patents kind of feel like the polar opposites of each other: communism is about abolishing private ownership of production and manufacture of goods, whereas patents are meant to grant individuals (persons or companies) the sole right to produce goods based on specific innovations. Thus, under communism, there's technically a universal patent owned by the nation to everything under the sun, and nobody else owns any patents.

When you try to see it from the inside, and if you believe in the true ideals of Communism, China is indeed supposed to protect their own people's work with IP protection as well. Communism extends only to the edge of your own Communist community, not beyond. I don't see an idealistic issue there.
But there's a saying about China, and how it's supposed to be an apple by now: red on the outside, white on the inside. Think about it.

The irony of the situation aside ("technology transfers" for access to the market...), I think this is a move designed to punish Intel for moving further away from China's sphere of influence. Anything to damage intel's reputation or deal a blow to it's market access is a bonus win for the Chinese semiconductor industry too (SMIC).
Consider that Intel is one of the biggest players who don't rely on Chinese or Taiwanese fabs. Any kind of conflict in/over Taiwan or South Korea and suddenly 75% of the semiconductor industry is either shutdown, unreliable, or under Chinese control. 7 out of intel's 8 fabs are in the other 25% (outside of China's sphere) and Intel has proposed 2 new fabs to be built in the US.
The thinking seems to go, "if we can't own you, we'll try to hurt you instead".

OK guys. Stop buying AMD CPUs. You can totally depend on the authenticity of this report since Intel paid Stardock to update their 5 year old game to take advantage of their new CPU. It's totally not a paid advertisement in anyway. There are no industrial chillers or tailored Windows 11 kernel changes involved.
This is what you call marketing FUD. A stunt to get people to stop buying AMD CPUs until these new Intel chips are released.
