Edit: Viewing more info. Scratch my old post... for now. But here are the results I had posted. My results from my Asus TUF X570-Plus Wi-Fi + 3900X [latest BIOS/AGESA 1.0.0.4]: Cinebench R15 - 83-80% CPU-Z bench - 75-73% (holds mostly at 73%) But that's with a ton of manual adjustments because the stock Asus settings were into dangerous voltage ranges. I significantly lowered how much power my CPU draws vs all auto stock and I don't know exactly how that affected the deviation results (probably would have been worse).

Hmm this is indeed interesting. Also it from my vantage point from watching videos about OC Ryzen chips that it takes an arm and a leg to do it. So with this information wouldn't make OC even more difficult considering you need close to accurate voltage values.

Anyone concerned about this, there are a few things you can do... First, you can change settings in HWInfo, to make it give you more accurate results. I'll use my numbers as an example. Running Prime95 with small FFTs, I'm getting a deviation reading of 59%. So, I right clicked on "CPU Package Power" then "Customize Values", and set a multiplier of 1.7. I determined that value by dividing 59 into 100. 100/59 ~ 1.7. This forces HWInfo to multiply the reported power usage value by 1.7 when displaying it. Then, I did the same thing for the "Power Reporting Deviation" setting. Now both values are reporting much closer to what they should be. What was being reported as 65 watts is now being reported as 110 watts - 65 is about 59% of 110. And, the deviation number stays close to 100% under load now. The next thing you can do is apply the same logic to the PPT setting in your BIOS. In my case, it's being under-reported, at 59% of what it actually is. The AMD stock value setting for PPT is 88 watts for my 3700x. 59% of 88 is about 52. So, I set the PPT if my BIOS to 52 watts, leaving the TDC and EDC at Auto. When the motherboard thinks it's limiting the processor to 52 watts, it's actually limiting it to 88 watts, which is the standard for PPT, for my 3700x, according to AMD. And yes, before you ask, performance does take a hit. Full load benchmarks are down about five percent, but maximum temperatures are down more than 10°C. Power now maxes out at about 90 watts - close enough to 88 for me, and within my CPU's specifications. Before, I was seeing power hit 120 watts and more under heavy loads, with temperatures in the mid-eighties. Just do the math, based on your own deviation reading, and PPT for your processor. Set to stock, Ryzen Master will tell you what the PPT setting is. Hope this helps someone...

If only they know what we put to OC the Ryzen... lol

Is this a AMD only feature?

R5 1600 on an Asrock x370 Taichi, memory oced to 3200 CL14. HWinfo updated today to beta 627_4190, sensor reports a deviation of 101% to 110%. A week ago, when the new came out to public, HWinfo 627_4185, the deviation readed was from 60% to 140%. It looked really strange at its moment. At AMD responded, "We are looking into the accuracy of these reports". Today it seems to me as a mistake by HWinfo... (maybe a marketing movement to make everyone install their software, as we did...) time will tell 🙄 Edited: (HWinfo new beta) Fixed monitoring of Power Reporting Deviation on AMD 1st/2nd Gen Ryzen CPUs. https://www.hwinfo.com/version-history/

my ryzen 5 3600 and msi b450 tomahawk max in idle 500% and in full stress cinebench 180% o_O lol

Ive done this test with CBR20 and the new HWInfo beta. I see around 30-40% at idle and some random spikes to around 93% but I monitored it for a 30 minutes and only saw this spikes for split seconds. Running CBR20 it settles around 83-87% once all cores are loaded and my 3900X hits around 4.19-4.22GHz all core. My settings are as follows DOCP enabled = RAM @ 3600MHz CL14 1T CPU Vcore = Offset -0.05V (now CPU hits 1.47V max instead of 1.56V and settles around 1.26V all core load instead of 1.38V but hits the same clocks) Using Windows 10 2004 update Using "SZ RYZEN BALANCED V4" modded profile Manually modded the CPU usage my self in this profile to CPU Min Usage to 59% this drops clocks to 2.2GHz solid anything higher and the CPU hits 2.25GHz idle anything lower and the CPU doesn't downclock any further. CPU max usage is 100%. I find this the best setup for idle desktop use and gaming. Hitting 4.6GHz with PBO enabled too. averaging around 4.3-4.4GHz.

erm:

my ryzen 5 3600 and msi b450 tomahawk max in idle 500% and in full stress cinebench 180% o_O lol
damn, this is with game boost and xmp enabled in bios.. but I try to reset the bios at default and with windows power plan high performance now I got 130% in idle and 92% on cinebench... grrrrrr -.-"

Is this a AMD only feature?
Originaly yes, but since they developed the idea and and make "official" tool to OC non-K intel's CPU (Asus Asrock MSI). The problem is not how they do, but that they hide it to make CPU work better on their board.

The reason mb vendors do it and get away with it, because reviewers have been fixated with clock speed numbers, instead of looking at voltage accuracy, board overall reliability, power usage vs performance, and the like.

totaly that...

Guys the idle %s are meaningless. The value is only accurate when at constant full load across all cores. The more under 100% the reported value is, the worse it is. Mine reporting 73% means Asus are BSing and reporting only 73% of the power the CPU is allowed to draw. 27/73 = thanks to Asus Asusing my CPU can draw almost 37% more power than it reports / what the limit should be.

Asus TUF-X570 + 3600. HWInfo is reporting 103-105%. What is more concerning to me is voltage reporting. Hwinfo is reporting ~1.3V+ during stress test (prime95 small FFT). CPU Core VID (Effective) is 1.356V. Are these voltages normal?

More power, more perf, well, sometimes. But its still beta,so nothing is accurate here.

hello i'm new here. i've a problem with the Power Reporting Deviation (Accuracy). my HWINFO64 Version is v6.32-4270. pc info:- Ryzen 3900x with stock cooler Gigabyte Aorus x570 Master REV.1.1 GSKILL NEO 3600MHZ 16gb x 2=32gb PSU- Antec HCG 1000W Extreme Windows 10 pro so yesterday, i upgraded the bios from f11 to f30 latest bios and also installed latest chipset driver given by gigabyte. then i ran a CINEBENCH R20 test to see if is there any improvement after bios upgrade and my result are single 508 & multicore 7125, MP Ratio 14.02x. and during the test the HWINFO64 was runing in the background. so after the test checking out HWINFO64, i found the minimul Value of "power reporting deviation (accuracy)" 88.8% red coloured and the Max value was 463.3% & Current value was 299.7%, Average 206.5%. In Windows the power plan was selected the AMD Ryzen High Performance and Maximum performane in the performance & power settings. Please, kindly anyone can explain me about all values i got fron HWINFO64, and tell me if these're normal. or should i contact with gigabyte OR AMD for these abnormal values ????? THANKS... waiting for a reply from a expert
