Except there was no variant of Windows being shipped without IE. There are Android phones being shipped without Play Services. The choice is already here, no one wants it because 99.99% the reason why people buy Android phones is Play Services and Google's Ecosystem. It would be insane to me if Google had to add options for Microsoft Store and other competitors when you buy a phone. But I guess that's what the EU wants.
That will be perfect, Add Apple Appstore, Microsoft store on Android .. all good. ( lol , no one of them want their stores on other ).. And full compatibility, when i buy an app on the playstore i have it too on the Appstore and vice versa ). In a perfect world, smartphone OS will be only OS, you could install and run any apps from any appstore ( Apple, MS; Google ), But i dont think that both Apple and Google want it. To note, the initial complain dont come from big name of the industry: Disconnect Inc ( American add blocker ), Aptoide ( Portugal app store ) and Yandex (Russian search engine )

Right now brexit is more like saving money for both part... 🙂
Perhaps. But the EU is going to miss the money badly.

Yes and no... the only way im right with it, is Chrome + Google search, if they force the use of Google search. .. For chrome in itself, all Android smartphones brands have their own internet browser, so this will not work...

But....>can't you just buy an iphone or a windows phone?....as far as I know google never twisted anyone's arm...there are other choices and yet they get fined billions of duck bone$ for offering a product. in my opinion...>that's a quick way to run good companies off/out.

You can use any search engine you wish with Chrome..... No one is forcing you to use Google to search.

That is the problem, due to the fact Android is now in an high position, some "softwares, apps store ", want that the playstore and other similar things are not in Android, for give user the choice of use another plateform. But, if im all for the concurrence.. what i was saying, is if EU want to regulate the smartphones market. they need to regulate it for all actors ( not only Google ).. by creating rules for alll, not by using the "dominant position" question and setting rules only for one actor.

You can use Bing if you want. It won't track you as far as I know. Or just use DuckDuckGo.

Android is so balls deep people don't know they use Android. People with Samsung phones are a classic example of the next iSheep. When I ask people at work what version of Android they use, they reply "I don't know, it's a Samsung. What's Android?".

This. If you look in Chrome settings there are 4 search engines installed for you - change your default...

Thanks Ghosty and Lane...... So the question goes back to....>Do they have a case in court?...appeal Maybe? Edit: or is it easier just to pay them off?.....That's a lot of money?...I know questions/opinions...debate the topic.... Edit2: after further review....> I would fight it to the end!

What Google do with the Play store is a joke, the fact that the software is so intergrated in to your phone / tablet and is required if you want to actually run the software once downloaded. You then add in that you need an account, even if the software is free, that almost EVERY piece of software you download then asks you to give it access to just about EVERYTHING on your phone, as some else here said why does a free game of Tetris need to now your GPS location and have access to your phone book? Then if you do decide to download an app from elsewhere the software is setup to make you jump through extra hoops just to get it to work, usually requiring you to disable inbuilt security features. I have no real issue with Google bundling Play with their OS but the utter amount of cr*p you have to go through and accept just to download apps is plain stupid, however when I got a new phone I do see the benefit of this hoop jumping, log in to my google account on my new phone and it downloaded, settings, apps and set my new phone up with all the stuff my old phone had, which is awesome and kinda scary and it should 100% be something I can choose to opt in to rather being forced to use from the word go.
If you need help. Ill get my 9 year old sister. She literally knows about the opt in lol. Its an option within the UI and asked specifically when you first boot.

It has nothing to do with the fact that they allow it. Microsoft allowed IE to be replaced with whatever. The issue is that choices are not offered and therefore the end user just uses what is there just like what Microsoft got nailed for with IE being bundled with windows. They are going to be forced just like Microsoft was to not have any of those apps pre-installed. That way the consumer will install whatever at their own discretion.
MS did not allow what you say. That's why they got in trouble. IE has not always been an option (it was fully forced and you had to botch Windows to get rid of it).

How does forcing Playstore and Google maps compare to Apple's approach?
This doesn't matter at all, as Apple doesn't hold a monopoly position in the smartphone market as Google does. Once your numbers reach monopoly status you play with different rules.
The EU has to make the money back from the UK leaving somehow... Perhaps. But the EU is going to miss the money badly.
At least the UK is going to save those 350 million per whatever for NHS. :infinity:

I would leave the UK and let them get there own OS!....F**king goverment's keep wanting more money/then they figure out that google is rich and they GRAB IT!.....sick goverment... Oh yeah!.... look out for immigrants/ they don't like you eather/...

Wait, you're a supposed free market/anti government type, who likes monopolies?
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/236/236670.jpg
nah not really!...just the huge fine that got me?... What say you on the fine?

Seriously? Botch Windows my behind. All that was needed was to delete the stupid little icon and poof for all intents and purposes it was gone. Out of site...out of mind. How on earth did Firefox, Chrome, or Opera get installed on a Windows operating system before Microsoft got fined? Those companies must have been run by some real gutsy individuals. Start a company on the hopes that one day our product will gain relevance once a large corporation gets in "trouble." Please, the complaints were about how lazy people actually are and have to be forced to see alternatives before they actually realize alternatives actually exist. Heaven forbid that people actually talk to each other...that cannot be tolerated. The mentality of, I see it...I am just so compelled to click on it because I can and use nothing else is a beginning argument for how the moronic population of the world keeps growing. The cartoons of a depressed IE character because it's only use is to download and install Chrome or Firefox is wasted on you then. Nothing has changed, IE was ignored before the EU fine and is still ignored in the same fashion today. One just needs to delete the icon and for all intents and purposes, it's gone. Windows 10, one has to specifically locate the IE exe file in the Programs folder and purposely right click and pin it to the task bar. Otherwise Edge is the only icon seen. That is why this case against Google is in the same vain. It's the simple fact that it exists, is there to be seen from the get go with no prodding saying hey wake up Google Services does not have to be used. If people really wanted to use something else other than what's offered, they would. The majority of people are just too lazy to find things out for themselves anymore; too much effort.
