They should just sell the HL franchise to another studio, Bethesda, Bioware or whatever. Sure it may lose a bit of its soul, but if they're not going to do anything with it, may as well. Would be awseome if Rockstar did HL3.
No. I'd rather not get a game at all then have it go the route of DNF.

LOL, yeah because if they hadn't already non officially killed off the franchise releasing it as an exclusive title for an OS that hardly anyone uses and even less WANT to use will at least finally and officially do the job. As a side note I just did a search of my game drive for the term HL3 and a file named with a HL3 extension appears within the original Portal game folder, so all this proves is that developers are lazy when it comes to naming things.

The expectations from this game are increasing the longer they delay it.
Opposite effect for me.

Even Valve aka Gabe is not that stupid lol.

Whilst part of me yearns for either a whole new HL title (in this case we will call it HL3) i would be happy with just getting HL2:EP3 that was promised all those years ago. in the grand scheme of things at Valve they have moved their focus from creating groundbreaking new singleplayer games to making highly profitable multiplayer games that will be played at various esport majors. in my opinion the person who pushed through the microtransactions in TF2 is the one to thank (or crucify - depending on how you feel) for valves change of direction when it comes to game development.

Half Life 3 confirmed. Most likely an employee pulling a joke. Or coincidence of 'hl' meaning something else.

I wonder who remembers Gunman Chronicles game, built on source back then. It had features and style which other FPS games got years later. Very good game, but I do not think many people bought it. Years ago, my CD got scratched, and I wanted to play it so much again... I did insert serial to steam, and it unlocked all HL1 data discs, but not Gunman game. (It has awesome soundtrack too.)
I remember Gunman Chronicles! And yes, it was complicated, for me that is. It had fairly large maps and getting lost was easy... Great graphics, game play and soundtrack it had.

Which is ironic, considering that's the type of hype they are trying to avoid.
Do you honestly believe that file was put there by accident?

If they actually make it, it will only be to serve as an ad for their VR system. They have no financial motivation to sink their time into making a single player game when the F2P stuff they've been doing makes such a larger ROI. But if it were heavily tied into their VR stuff, that could prove a good motivation for fans to invest in it.

That is an unbelievable stupid idea. I don't think Valve will sell the enormous hype for some VR PR stunt.

These comments will never make any sense. "Valve has no motivation to make something that will get money" Yes, totally, 100% logical statement.

Gunman Chronicles was on GoldSrc, not Source, so i assume that's what you meant? I just recently played that game, that was a crazy game lol

Thanks for correction. Yes, I meant original HL1 engine. And in games like this, I think crazy is good as they are not boring.

This. We won't see HL3.
