Probably is for watercoolers. But wouldn't want to run a 3090 with such an air cooler.

AND / OR for SLI-ers

Does it come with a free 'be quiet' case? It think it will need one.

Na... it's for those that want that authentic "reference" feel 😉

Probably the GPU clocks will go down to 1300 mhz, once it starts to throttle with that insufficient cooler...

To maximize profits probably. That kind of cooler probably costs a few dollars to make. And they can charge as much for it as a card with a 150 dollar cooler. Only would be interesting for watercooling if it actually was much cheaper than normal in first place.

Nah, SLi is dead. )-:

Would be the same experience as the GTX 295.

hehe well to be honest I was riding ATI back then 😉

great stuff. the people who have so so cases this will be good for them. drop power 10% drop temps by 30c happy days. Soon as you put case side on their design shines and narrows the noise gap in half.

Although I'm not spending $1,500 on a GPU myself, neat on Gigabyte for making a card that doesn't cover up a nearby motherboard slot and still works with the existing power supplies out there out of the box. I'd agree with the other comments that it is ideal for a waterblock swap (if cheaper than $1,500) otherwise someone whom runs it at 4k with everything on Ultra settings...it's going to sound like a hair dryer?

You do not need that connector for multi-gpu under vulkan and d3d12 (if developers intend to support multi-gpu..). It may help though under d3d12 if developers choose to support linked nodes adapters featuring cross-sharing resources...

Are reviewers working on 3090 already? When can we expect NDA to be lifted?

Yes you do, because nobody has used anything other than LDA MGPU so far, apart from Ashes of the Singularity 🙁

A single fan blower cooler and only two 8-pin connectors, on a 3090?? If I was gonna spend $1500 I would stay the hell away from this card.

The blower could be a good thing, the 3080 was shown to raise CPU and system temps by 10c just dumping all the heat in the case. If the 3090 is as huge as made out to be the blower and heatsink would be significant.

I don't trust this to be a well designed Blower, its probably a slab of aluminium with no vapor chamber.

i do not think the problem is the connector. Who said for sliers, meant that with only 2 slots taken and with the blower style, is a classic airflow setup for sli.

I dont think a single or dual card in a gaming machine will be worthwhile for reasons already mentioned. But a simple number crunching machine with 4+ of these will work well without spending a large budget on better cooling. Yes they will throttle a little but if the case air feed is external to the room, its a pretty cheap way to get massive power in a single box.
