I don't see how that is possible because they wouldn't want to alienate their customers by offering what is supposed to be a cheaper motherboard better features that an x570 would. That makes no sense what so ever just like have 3 m.2 ports don't make any sense.
Yet they do, at least from what I am seeing in the image posted at the beginning of this thread. I personally want a B550 board to replace my X370 Taichi, just because. 🙂

well, stop putting this on gigabyte. msi prices have surfaced and are also rather high. pretty happy that I went with B450 few months ago...

B550 looking to be much more expensive than B450 was. Thought AMD was suppose to be the budget friendly company? 😕

Chill people, launch prices are always high. Wait 2-3 months and it will start to balance out... I expect decent B550 boards to become under $150, which cannot be said about X570, where a good board is still in the High 200s

B450 will most likely still be available.

Lets hope they'll get about 100-130 Eur by the end of the year I'm planing to upgrade my 1700x to a ryzen 4000 then ^^

When you offer the best parts you dictate the market.

AMD does not make motherboards. AMD maybe will earn some royalties and sell the chipset (that may be produced by Asmedia again this time).

According to specs, that Aorus PRO seems more than enough for most users ! It really has everything needed, other that Wifi which for the large majority of desktop users is just a gimmick.
You've meant the Gaming X, haven't you? What extra does the Aorus Pro give compared to the Gaming X that worth the extra $40? Moreover, if I would spend $179 for a B550 mobo, I would definitely go for the Aorus Pro AC for an extra $10 to get a Wi-Fi.

Have you checked the prices of Z490 motherboards? They are priced the same or a bit higher than the X570 motherboards. Plus, as Alessio1989 wrote, it's not AMD who are making the motherboards. Plus getting a mobo for the same price with a much better CPU for lower price is always welcomed, isn't it?

No... GamingX is missing: - 1 phase less - Weaker power system in general - Old Audio solution (887, vs 1220-VB) - Old Gigabit Ethernet ( vs. 2.5G Realtek8125 ) - No Displayport for an APU - One less USB 3-10gbps, One less USB 3-5gbps - Potentially other things (like worse radiators, less fan headers...) Too many things had to be cut down to hit that lower price point. Maybe it works for some, but for me personally it's a NO GO from the start, since it's missing the 2.5G network (which I already have in my house)

One single lane of PCI-e 3.0 is 5 gbps. 2.5G = 2.5 gbps, half of that. If even works at full speed with one single PCI-e 2.0 lane (also 2.5) The B550 has 4 x (3.0) lanes, which means 20 gbps to the SB, more than enough to keep the network at full speed while also 10 other things happen on the computer. This is a non-issue.
https://i.imgur.com/d4BGQjx.png 2x USB 10Gbps = 20Gbps 2x USB 5Gbps = 10Gbps 6x USB 0,48Gbps = 2,88Gbps 8x PCIe 3.0 = 40Gbps 2x PCIe 3.0 = 10Gbps So, in theory, that chipset should be able to move around 82,88Gbps to and from the CPU. Obviously all this traffic won't saturate at the same time, and equally obviously you'll never get 100% efficiency in the bus. So yeah, giving it double the bandwidth from 20Gbps to 40Gbps, like the X570 has, does make sense.

B550 should be cheap and affordable not this overpriced. Would rather buy a X570.

Yeah same here. For the price of the most expensive Gigabyte board you can get a good x570 board. Also if the rumors are true about the x570 Tomahawk MSI board you can get it for the same price as Carbon B550 board.

Absolutely agree, bought last summer X570 Aorus elite, the B550 equivalent is now ~50 € cheaper and it's a year later. I guess the real benefit is the lack of a fan, although I had no issues with mine.

That's why south bridges are still used: to connect devices requiring more bandwidth that the SoC can provide. If the link became saturated then the speed link of the devices downgrades.

For not having that noisy, crappy and fragile mini-fan on the SB.

Exactly, so double the bandwidth of the link is not insignificant, which is exactly the point I am making.

Interestingly, this producer thinks that their mobos, despite being unreliable have to be very expensive. It's like "yeah, we are aware that are products are crappy, that's a downside, yeah, but take a look at the prices - aren't we the top of tops, or what?!";)

Would not be surprised if the X570 would have fewer useful features, however. After all, bigger numbers do not always mean better. 🙂

Depends on what features you are looking for. If you want dual m.2 ports that are PCI-E Gen4 then X570 is the way to go.
